Al-Ahzab
ٱدۡعُوهُمۡ لِأٓبَآئِهِمۡ هُوَ أَقۡسَطُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِۚ فَإِن لَّمۡ تَعۡلَمُوٓاْ ءَابَآءَهُمۡ فَإِخۡوَٰنُكُمۡ فِي ٱلدِّينِ وَمَوَٰلِيكُمۡۚ وَلَيۡسَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ جُنَاحٞ فِيمَآ أَخۡطَأۡتُم بِهِۦ وَلَٰكِن مَّا تَعَمَّدَتۡ قُلُوبُكُمۡۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورٗا رَّحِيمًا
5Call them (adopted sons) by the names of their fathers. That is more just with Allah. But if you don’t know their fathers’ name, then they are your broth-ers in faith and your friends. And there is no sin for you regarding this if you happen to make a mistake. However, if you do it intentionally, it will be a sin. (Hence, ask for Allah’s forgiveness, since) Allah is Very-Forgiving, Most Merci-ful.
