بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ 1

1 In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ 2

2 All form of praise and thanks is due to Allah Alone, the Creator of Al-Alamin (i.e. mankind, jinn and all that exists)

ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ 3

3 The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful

مَٰلِكِ يَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ 4

4  The Owner of the Day of Judgement

إِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِينُ 5

5 We worship You (Alone) and we seek help from You (Alone).

ٱهۡدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ 6

6 Guide us to the Straight Path

صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ غَيۡرِ ٱلۡمَغۡضُوبِ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ 7

7 The Path of those whom You honoured with Your favoursNot (the Path) of those who earned Your Anger nor of those who went astray

الٓمٓ 1

1 Alif-Lam-Mim. (Allah Alone knows their meanings)

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبُ لَا رَيۡبَۛ فِيهِۛ هُدٗى لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ 2

2 This Book (the Quran) has no doubt in it. (That the Quran is from Allah. But if a person doubts due to his ignorance, the fact is not changed). It is a guidance for pious persons

ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَيُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ يُنفِقُونَ 3

3 Those who believe in the Unseen, establish prayer and spend (in good pro-jects) from what Allah has given them

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبۡلِكَ وَبِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ هُمۡ يُوقِنُونَ 4

4 And they believe in what is sent down to you (i.e. the Quran) and what was sent down before you. (Believing in the earlier Scrip-tures; is a must, but one should act on the guidance of the Quran only) and they believe firmly in the Hereafter.

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ عَلَىٰ هُدٗى مِّن رَّبِّهِمۡۖ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ 5

5 They have the (true) guidance from their Creator and they will be successful (in the Hereafter).

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَأَنذَرۡتَهُمۡ أَمۡ لَمۡ تُنذِرۡهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ 6

6 It is the same for the dis-believers whether you warn them or not, they will not believe. 

خَتَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ وَعَلَىٰ سَمۡعِهِمۡۖ وَعَلَىٰٓ أَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡ غِشَٰوَةٞۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٞ 7

7 Allah has sealed their hearts and ears and there is a cover on their eyes. And they will have severe punishment.

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَقُولُ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَبِٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ وَمَا هُم بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ 8

8 And among the people some of them (hypocrites) say: “We believe in Allah and the Day of Judgement.” In fact, they don’t believe

يُخَٰدِعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَمَا يَخۡدَعُونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمۡ وَمَا يَشۡعُرُونَ 9

9 They (are trying to) deceive Allah and the believers. In fact, they are deceiving themselves only, but they don’t realize it.

فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٞ فَزَادَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مَرَضٗاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمُۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكۡذِبُونَ 10

10 There is a disease (i.e. hypoc-risy) in their hearts and Allah has increased their (this) disease. And there is a painful punish-ment for them since they used to tell lies.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ لَا تُفۡسِدُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَا نَحۡنُ مُصۡلِحُونَ 11

11 And when it is said to them: “Don’t make mischief in the land,” they say: “Indeed, we are the re-formers.”

أَلَآ إِنَّهُمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدُونَ وَلَٰكِن لَّا يَشۡعُرُونَ 12

12 Bear in mind that they are the ones who are spreading the mischief but they don’t realize it.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ ءَامِنُواْ كَمَآ ءَامَنَ ٱلنَّاسُ قَالُوٓاْ أَنُؤۡمِنُ كَمَآ ءَامَنَ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُۗ أَلَآ إِنَّهُمۡ هُمُ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ وَلَٰكِن لَّا يَعۡلَمُونَ 13

13 And when it is said to them: “Believe as the people [the Companions of the Prophet ( peace be upon him )have believed. They say: “Shall we believe as the fools have believed?” Bear in mind that they are the fools, but they don’t understand it.
