وَإِذۡ قُلۡنَا لِلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسۡجُدُواْ لِأٓدَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓاْ إِلَّآ إِبۡلِيسَ أَبَىٰ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ 34

34 And (remember) when We said to the angels: “All of you Pros-trate your-selves to Adam (peace be upon him).” So they all prostrated except Satan, he refused and was haughty and he be-came one of the disbelievers (of Allah).

وَقُلۡنَا يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ ٱسۡكُنۡ أَنتَ وَزَوۡجُكَ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنۡهَا رَغَدًا حَيۡثُ شِئۡتُمَا وَلَا تَقۡرَبَا هَٰذِهِ ٱلشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ 35

35 And We said: “O Adam (peace be upon him)You and your wife reside in Paradise and eat plentifully from wherever you desire, and don’t come near this tree otherwise both of you will become wrong-doers.”

فَأَزَلَّهُمَا ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ عَنۡهَا فَأَخۡرَجَهُمَا مِمَّا كَانَا فِيهِۖ وَقُلۡنَا ٱهۡبِطُواْ بَعۡضُكُمۡ لِبَعۡضٍ عَدُوّٞۖ وَلَكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُسۡتَقَرّٞ وَمَتَٰعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٖ 36

36 So Satan caused to slip both of them concerning this tree and, brought them out (of the enjoyable life there). And We said to them: “Get down from here. Some of you will be enemies of each other. And you have to reside on the earth and find enjoyment there for a while.”

فَتَلَقَّىٰٓ ءَادَمُ مِن رَّبِّهِۦ كَلِمَٰتٖ فَتَابَ عَلَيۡهِۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 37

37 So Adam (peace be upon him) learnt some words from his Creator, and then He accepted his repentance. Indeed, Allah accepts (sincere) repentance, the Most Merciful.

قُلۡنَا ٱهۡبِطُواْ مِنۡهَا جَمِيعٗاۖ فَإِمَّا يَأۡتِيَنَّكُم مِّنِّي هُدٗى فَمَن تَبِعَ هُدَايَ فَلَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يَحۡزَنُونَ 38

38 We said (with Our Wisdom): “Get down from here all of you. So if you come across My guidance, then whoever follows it (My guidance), there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve.

وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَكَذَّبُواْ بِ‍َٔايَٰتِنَآ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ 39

39 “And those who will dis-believe and deny Our revelations will be dwellers of Hell-Fire, and they shall reside there forever.”

يَٰبَنِيٓ إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱذۡكُرُواْ نِعۡمَتِيَ ٱلَّتِيٓ أَنۡعَمۡتُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَأَوۡفُواْ بِعَهۡدِيٓ أُوفِ بِعَهۡدِكُمۡ وَإِيَّٰيَ فَٱرۡهَبُونِ 40

40 O Children of Israel!  Remem-ber My favour I did to you. Fulfil your promise you made to Me (in Taurat), I shall fulfil My promise (of removing your sins) and fear Me Alone.

وَءَامِنُواْ بِمَآ أَنزَلۡتُ مُصَدِّقٗا لِّمَا مَعَكُمۡ وَلَا تَكُونُوٓاْ أَوَّلَ كَافِرِۢ بِهِۦۖ وَلَا تَشۡتَرُواْ بِ‍َٔايَٰتِي ثَمَنٗا قَلِيلٗا وَإِيَّٰيَ فَٱتَّقُونِ 41

41 And believe in the Book which I have sent down (i.e. the Quran) since it confirms what is with you, and don’t be the first to disbelieve in it. And don’t sell My Verses for petty gains and fear Me Alone.

وَلَا تَلۡبِسُواْ ٱلۡحَقَّ بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ وَتَكۡتُمُواْ ٱلۡحَقَّ وَأَنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ 42

42 Don’t mix truth with falsehood and don’t conceal the truth while you know (the truth clearly). 

وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱرۡكَعُواْ مَعَ ٱلرَّٰكِعِينَ 43

43 Establish Salat and give Zakat (the poor-due) and bow with those who bow (in worship).

۞أَتَأۡمُرُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ بِٱلۡبِرِّ وَتَنسَوۡنَ أَنفُسَكُمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ تَتۡلُونَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ 44

44 Do you motivate other people to observe piety, and you ignore its practice yourselves while you recite the Book (Taurat, which disapproves knowledge without practice)? Don’t you understand this?

وَٱسۡتَعِينُواْ بِٱلصَّبۡرِ وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِۚ وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلۡخَٰشِعِينَ 45

45 And seek help with patience and Salat . And, indeed, it is hard, except for those who are humble,

ٱلَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّهُم مُّلَٰقُواْ رَبِّهِمۡ وَأَنَّهُمۡ إِلَيۡهِ رَٰجِعُونَ 46

46 Those who bear in mind that they will certainly meet their Creator and that they are certainly going to return to Him.

يَٰبَنِيٓ إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱذۡكُرُواْ نِعۡمَتِيَ ٱلَّتِيٓ أَنۡعَمۡتُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَأَنِّي فَضَّلۡتُكُمۡ عَلَى ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ 47

47        O Children of Israel! Remem-ber My favour to you that I gave preference to you amongst all My creatures (of that time).

وَٱتَّقُواْ يَوۡمٗا لَّا تَجۡزِي نَفۡسٌ عَن نَّفۡسٖ شَيۡ‍ٔٗا وَلَا يُقۡبَلُ مِنۡهَا شَفَٰعَةٞ وَلَا يُؤۡخَذُ مِنۡهَا عَدۡلٞ وَلَا هُمۡ يُنصَرُونَ 48

48 And fear the Day when no person will benefit other person, nor intercession will be accepted from him, nor compen-sation will be taken from him and they will not be helped in any way.

وَإِذۡ نَجَّيۡنَٰكُم مِّنۡ ءَالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ يَسُومُونَكُمۡ سُوٓءَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ يُذَبِّحُونَ أَبۡنَآءَكُمۡ وَيَسۡتَحۡيُونَ نِسَآءَكُمۡۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكُم بَلَآءٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ عَظِيمٞ 49

49 (Here are the details of Allah’s favours). And (remember) when We rescued you from Firaun’s people, who inflicted upon you a terrible torment, killing your sons while letting your ladies live. That was a big trial for you from Allah

وَإِذۡ فَرَقۡنَا بِكُمُ ٱلۡبَحۡرَ فَأَنجَيۡنَٰكُمۡ وَأَغۡرَقۡنَآ ءَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَأَنتُمۡ تَنظُرُونَ 50

50 And (remember) when We split the sea for you and took you across the sea safely, and We drowned the people of Firaun while you were looking at them.

وَإِذۡ وَٰعَدۡنَا مُوسَىٰٓ أَرۡبَعِينَ لَيۡلَةٗ ثُمَّ ٱتَّخَذۡتُمُ ٱلۡعِجۡلَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ وَأَنتُمۡ ظَٰلِمُونَ 51

51 And (remember) when We ap-pointed forty nights for Musa, (peace be upon him)
then you started (worshiping) a calf in his absence and you became wrong-doers.

ثُمَّ عَفَوۡنَا عَنكُم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ ذَٰلِكَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ 52

52 Even after that We pardoned you so that you might be grateful.

وَإِذۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَٱلۡفُرۡقَانَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَهۡتَدُونَ 53

53 And (remember) when We gave Musa (peace be upon him) the Scripture and the criterion of right and wrong so that you may be guided (to the Right Path).
