Al-Anam
وَلَوۡ نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ كِتَٰبٗا فِي قِرۡطَاسٖ فَلَمَسُوهُ بِأَيۡدِيهِمۡ لَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٞ
7And even if We had sent down to you [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] a message written on paper so that they could touch it with their hands (according to their demand), the disbelievers would have said: “This is nothing but an obvious magic!” (Also Surah Al-Hijr:14, 15)
7The reason for descending the verse
Said al-Kalbi said, “The idolaters of Makkah said, ‘O Muhammad, by Allah we will not believe until you bring us a book from Allah along with four angels with it, bearing witness that it is from Allah, and that you are His Messenger’, and so this verse was revealed.” (Al-Wahidi,Reasons of Revelation)
