Al-Baqarah
وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَقَفَّيۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ بِٱلرُّسُلِۖ وَءَاتَيۡنَا عِيسَى ٱبۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ ٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ وَأَيَّدۡنَٰهُ بِرُوحِ ٱلۡقُدُسِۗ أَفَكُلَّمَا جَآءَكُمۡ رَسُولُۢ بِمَا لَا تَهۡوَىٰٓ أَنفُسُكُمُ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرۡتُمۡ فَفَرِيقٗا كَذَّبۡتُمۡ وَفَرِيقٗا تَقۡتُلُونَ
87(Allah took many extraordinary steps to guide the Jews. First of all) We, indeed, gave Musa () the Book, and We followed him up with the messengers after him con-tinuously. (In that line of mes--sengers) We gave Isa (PEACE BE UPON HIM), the son of Maryam, many clear mir-acles and supported him [Isa (PEACE BE UPON HIM)] by the Holy Spirit [i.e. Jibrael (PEACE BE UPON HIM)]. Whenever a messenger brought to you the guidance which your hearts did not desire, you be-came arrogant. Some of them you totally disbelieved and others you killed outright.
