About the Surah

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

Has the news reached you about that which will cover every-one (with its horrors, i.e. the Day of Resurrection).

On that Day, some faces will be disgraced

Labouring (hard in the worldly life) and fatigued (in the Hereafter with dis-grace).

They will enter an extremely hot Fire

They will be made to drink from a spring which is extremely hot.

They will have no food except bitter thorny trees.

It will neither nourish (the body) nor satisfy hunger.

       On that Day some faces will be fresh,

Highly pleased with their endeavours.

 they will be in lofty paradise.

They shall not hear any idle gossip.

There will be a spring with running water.

There will be raised thrones.

And cups placed (nearby).

And cushions arranged in rows.

And rich silken carpets fully spread out.

Do they not look at the camels,  how they are created? 

And at the sky , how We raised it so high? 

And at the mountains , how they are fixed firmly?

And at the earth, how it is spread out? 

[O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] So do re-mind them, since you are supposed to remind them only.

You are not a warden over them. (Some scholars say that this command was cancelled when fighting was prescribed)

Except the one who turns away (from truth) and disbelieves.

 So Allah will punish him with the severest punishment.

Indeed, they have to return to Us.

Then, indeed, it is Our respon-sibility to make them accountable.
