About the Surah

       Men are the supervisors of women, because Allah has excelled some of you over others and be-cause men spend their wealth to support women. Hence, the right-eous women are those who are fully obedient (to Allah and to their husbands), and guard, in their hus-band’s absence, what Allah orders them to guard (their chastity, their husband’s property and children). And if you fear rebellion from your wives, then counsel them verbally. (If they still misbehave) leave them alone in their beds, (and if the mis-behaviour continues) then you may beat them (lightly). If they start obeying you, don’t look for ex-cuses to annoy them. Indeed, Allah is Most High, Most Great.
