An-Nur
وَلَوۡلَا فَضۡلُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَرَحۡمَتُهُۥ فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ لَمَسَّكُمۡ فِي مَآ أَفَضۡتُمۡ فِيهِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
14And had it not been for the Grace of Allah and His Mercy to you in this world and in the Hereafter, a great torment would have been inflicted upon you for what you were propagating,
14The reason for descending the verse
On the authority of `A’isha the mother of the believers,she said(when the slanderers said what they said about her),“I went to my bed knowing at that time that I was innocent and that Allah would reveal my innocence, but by Allah, I never thought that Allah would reveal in my favour a revelation which would be recited, for I considered myself too unimportant to be talked about by Allah in the Divine Revelation that was to be recited.” So Allah revealed the ten verses (of surah An-Nur).
