Ar-Rad
وَلَوۡ أَنَّ قُرۡءَانٗا سُيِّرَتۡ بِهِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ أَوۡ قُطِّعَتۡ بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ أَوۡ كُلِّمَ بِهِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰۗ بَل لِّلَّهِ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ جَمِيعًاۗ أَفَلَمۡ يَاْيَۡٔسِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَن لَّوۡ يَشَآءُ ٱللَّهُ لَهَدَى ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعٗاۗ وَلَا يَزَالُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ تُصِيبُهُم بِمَا صَنَعُواْ قَارِعَةٌ أَوۡ تَحُلُّ قَرِيبٗا مِّن دَارِهِمۡ حَتَّىٰ يَأۡتِيَ وَعۡدُ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُخۡلِفُ ٱلۡمِيعَادَ
31And if there was a Quran with which mountains could be moved (from their locations) or earth could be broken into pieces or the dead could be made to speak (even then they would not have believed). In fact, authority and decision of all affairs rest with Allah Alone. Have the believers not yet understood that if Allah willed He could have guided all mankind? And the disbelievers will keep receiving severe punishment time to time due to their wrong doings or at least some disaster will always take place near their community until the Day of Judgement arrives. Indeed, Allah does not break His promise.
31The reason for descending the verse
On the authourity of Ibn Abbas he said,“The Quraysh said to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w),‘If that which you have broughtistrue,then show us old men [who died]to talk to them and ask them about it, and also make the land of Makkah spacious upon us because those mountains have squeezed us’. So on that occasion Allah revealed this verse.(As-Suyuti in Lubab)
