Hud
وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ طَرَفَيِ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَزُلَفٗا مِّنَ ٱلَّيۡلِۚ إِنَّ ٱلۡحَسَنَٰتِ يُذۡهِبۡنَ ٱلسَّئَِّاتِۚ ذَٰلِكَ ذِكۡرَىٰ لِلذَّٰكِرِينَ
114[O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] And you perform Salat at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night. Indeed, the good deeds erase the evil deeds. This is an advice for those who intend to seek advice.
114The reason for descending the verse
On the authority of Abd Allah ibn Masoud,he said, “A man came to the Prophet (s.a.w) and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have fondled a woman at the end of Madinah. However, I have touched her without making love to her and here I am, so sentence me to whatever judgment you see fit!' 'Umar exclaimed, 'Allah had concealed your sin if only you had kept it concealed'. The Prophet of Allah did not answer him. The man left. Another man went after him, called him back, and recited to him this verse. One man asked, 'O Messenger of Allah. Is this for him specifically?' He said, 'No, it is for all people.’”(Al-Wahidi,Reasons of Revelation)
