Yunus
أَكَانَ لِلنَّاسِ عَجَبًا أَنۡ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ رَجُلٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ أَنۡ أَنذِرِ ٱلنَّاسَ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَنَّ لَهُمۡ قَدَمَ صِدۡقٍ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡۗ قَالَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَٰحِرٞ مُّبِينٌ
2Are the people surprised that We have sent Our revelations to a man from them (i.e. he is a human being like them), (saying:) “Warn the people (from disobedience of Allah) and those who believe, give them glad tidings of good reward and dignity from their Creator?” The disbelievers said: “This is, indeed, an obvious magician.” (Since they had no other logic to refute it).
2The reason for descending the verse
On the authourity of Ibn ‘Abbas,he said, “When Allah The Almighty, sent Muhammad (s.a.w) as a messenger, the non-believers criticised him, saying, ‘Allah is too great to have a human like Muhammad as His messenger’, and so Allah revealed this verse.” (Al-Wahidi,Reasons of Revelation)
