Al-Anfal
وَإِذۡ يَمۡكُرُ بِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لِيُثۡبِتُوكَ أَوۡ يَقۡتُلُوكَ أَوۡ يُخۡرِجُوكَۚ وَيَمۡكُرُونَ وَيَمۡكُرُ ٱللَّهُۖ وَٱللَّهُ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡمَٰكِرِينَ
30And that time is worth remembering, when the disbelievers were plotting to imprison you, or to kill you, or to expel you from your land, and they were plot-ting and Allah was plotting too (to defeat their evil plots). And Allah’s strategy is the Best.
30The reason for descending the verse
Narrated by Ubaid ibn Umair (r.a) that Abu Talib asked the Prophet (s.a.w), “Do you know what the Quraish had discussed about you?” He answered, “They will imprison me, kill me, or get me out from here…” Abu Talib asked, “Who informed you?” The Prophet (s.a.w) answered, “My Lord.” Abu Talib said, “Your Lord is The Most Kind. I intestate you to serve Him well.” The Prophet (s.a.w) said, “I received His command well and My Lord has been very great to me.” Then this verse was revealed. (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
