Al-Baqarah
۞وَإِن كُنتُمۡ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٖ وَلَمۡ تَجِدُواْ كَاتِبٗا فَرِهَٰنٞ مَّقۡبُوضَةٞۖ فَإِنۡ أَمِنَ بَعۡضُكُم بَعۡضٗا فَلۡيُؤَدِّ ٱلَّذِي ٱؤۡتُمِنَ أَمَٰنَتَهُۥ وَلۡيَتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّهُۥۗ وَلَا تَكۡتُمُواْ ٱلشَّهَٰدَةَۚ وَمَن يَكۡتُمۡهَا فَإِنَّهُۥٓ ءَاثِمٞ قَلۡبُهُۥۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ عَلِيمٞ
283And if you are on a journey and cannot find a writer, then keep a pledge (of a precious item) in the custody of your lender. (It is called mortgaging). If they have mutual trust (and don’t feel need for any mortgaging), then the borrower should fully repay the loan on time and fear Allah, his Creator. And don’t conceal the evidence. Whoever conceals the evidence, surely his heart is sinful. And Allah is All-Knower of what you do.
