About the Surah

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

       The disbelievers from the people of the Scripture and idolaters were not going to quit (disbelief) until there came to them the clear evidence.

       (And that clear evidence was) a messenger [Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] from Allah who would recite to them purified pages (purified from falsehood).

(In those pages are) correct and straight commands (from Allah).

       And the People of the Scripture differed among themselves only after this clear evidence came to them.

       The only command given to them was to worship Allah, submitting themselves to Allah’s religion sincerely with single mind, and perform Salat and pay the poor-due. And that is the correct religion.

       Indeed, the disbelievers from the People of the Scripture and idolaters will be in Hell-Fire to reside there forever. They are the worst of creatures.

Indeed, those who believe and do good deeds, they are the best of creatures.

Their reward with their Creator is Gardens of Eternity (i.e. Paradise) beneath which rivers flow. They will reside there forever. Allah will be pleased with them, and they will be pleased with Allah. That is for him who fears his Creator.
