About the Surah

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

When the heaven will split apart.

And will listen to (and obey) the Command of its Creator. And (the Creator) must be obeyed (by everything).

And when the earth shall be spread out (and expanded further).

And will throw out all those things in it (including dead bodies) and will become empty (from dead bodies).

And will listen to (and obey) the Command of its Creator. And (the Creator) must be obeyed (by everything).

O mankind! Indeed, you are striving extremely hard con-tinuously (to do good or bad) till you meet your Creator (i.e. till death), and then you will see (its reward or punishment in the Hereafter).

Then he who will be given his account in his right hand.

So his accountability shall be easy.

And he will return to his family (who are also people of Paradise) cheerfully.

And he who is given his account behind his back.

So he will pray for death.

And he will be thrown in blazing Fire.

He used to be joyful with his family (in the worldly life).

Indeed, he thought that he would not return (to Allah).

Why not? Indeed, his Creator has always been watching him.

So I swear by the afterglow of sunset.

And by the night and all that is covered by its darkness.

And by the moon when it becomes a full moon.

       You shall definitely go from one stage to another (or from one difficulty to another in this life and in the Hereafter).

What is the matter with them that they don’t believe?

And when the Quran is recited to them, they don’t fall into prostration.

In fact, the disbelievers are denying it.

And Allah knows best what they hide in their hearts.

So give them the glad tidings of a painful torment (it is to make fun of the disbelievers).

Except those who believe and do good deeds, for them is a non-ending reward (i.e. Paradise).
