At-Tur
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
2 2And by the Book Written (i.e. by all the Scriptures or by the deeds recorded by the angels),
4 4And by Al-Bait-ul-Mamur (the house in the seventh heaven where angels worship).
6 6And by the sea which will burst into fire (on the Day of Resur-rection). (Also see Surah At-Takwir:6)
11 11So on that Day the destruction will be for those who denied the truth.
12 12(Along with denial) who are merry making with falsehood. (Hence, they deserve the punish-ment).
13 13On that Day they will be dragged into Fire with disgraceful pushing (and kicking).
15 15(In their denial they used to call these Verses magic). Is this Hell-Fire magic, or do you still not see it? (It is to make fun of the disbelievers).
16 16Enter this Fire (and taste its effects). So whether you are patient or not, it is the same for you. Indeed, you are being punished for what you used to do.
17 17Indeed, the pious persons will be in Gardens (Paradise) and Delight.
18 18They will be jubilant with that which their Creator has granted them and their Creator saved them from the torment of blazing Fire.
19 19(It will be said to them) “Eat and drink cheerfully because of (the good) deeds you used to do.” (Hence, good deeds are a must in addition to proper Faith to receive Allah’s Mercy.)
20 20They will recline (with ease) on couches arranged in rows. And We shall marry them to beautiful ladies with lovely wide eyes.
21 21And those who believe and their children follow them with Faith (but their children did not reach higher level of Paradise where their parents reside), We shall join these children with their parents (out of our Mercy) without decreasing the reward of their parents even a bit. (However, if their children are disbelievers, they shall not join their parents, since) every person’s fate depends upon his deeds (as you sow, so shall you reap). (Also see Surah Al-Muddaththir:38 and 39)
22 22And We shall provide them (the believers) with fruit in abundance and their favourite meat.
23 23There they shall pass around a (wine) cup hand to hand without engaging in vain or sinful talk.
24 24And they will have boy-servants to serve them (the servants will be very clean) and they will look like preserved pearls.
25 25(For spiritual pleasure), they will have mutual conversation (and questioning) facing each other.
26 26(Saying): “Before this, we, indeed, used to be scared (of the punishment) in our families.”
27 27“So it is a great Favour of Allah Who has saved us from the torment of Fire.”
28 28“Indeed, even before this We used to invoke (or pray to) Him. (So He granted our supplication). Indeed, He is Generous, the Most Merciful.”
29 29[O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] Hence, remind (mankind with the topics described above) since, by the Grace of Allah you are neither a soothsayer, nor a madman.
30 30Or do they say: “[Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] is a poet? We are waiting for some calamity (like death) to fall on him (in due course of time).”
31 31Or do they say: “[Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] is a poet? We are waiting for some calamity (like death) to fall on him (in due course of time).”
32 32Does their intelligence dictate them this [i.e. to tell lies against Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] or are they a people transgressing all human limits?
33 33Do they say: “He has forged it (the Quran)?” In fact, they simply don’t believe (in it).
34 34So they should bring even one statement like this (i.e. Quran) if they are truthful in their claim.
35 35Were they created by them-selves without any creator, or were they the creators?
36 36Or did they create the skies and the earth? In fact, they don’t have firm Belief.
37 37Or do they have the treasures (of Mercy, Favours, Prophethood) of your Creator (so that they give Prophethood to whom they like), or are they the controllers of these treasures?
38 38Or do they have a stairway (to the sky) with which they listen (to the talks of angels, i.e. do they have any revelations obtained like this)? Then their listener should produce a clear proof of it.
40 40Or do you [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] ask them for a reward (for your services), so that they are burdened with this demand?
41 41Or do they have knowledge of the Unseen, which they then write down [e.g. Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) will definitely die before they die]?
42 42Or do they intend to plot [against you, i.e. to kill the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)]? But the disbelievers are them-selves plotted against (as in Badr). (Also see Surah Fatir:43)
43 43Or have they a god other than Allah? Glorified is Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him).
44 44(Even if their demanded miracle take place, they are very stub-born in their thinking). And if they were to see a piece of the sky falling down, they would say: “These are only layers of clouds piled up.”
45 45So leave them alone (in their condition) till they meet their Day in which they will faint (with horror).
46 46On that Day their (evil) strategy will not benefit them a bit nor will they be helped.
47 47And, indeed, there is another punishment for the wrong-doers (as in Badr and in the graves), but most of them don’t understand it. (Also see Surah As-Sajdah:21)
48 48[O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] And wait patiently for the Command of your Creator, since, indeed, you are under Our eyes (i.e. under Our protection), and glorify the praise of your Creator when you get up [(i) from sleep or (ii) for Salat or (iii) from a meeting].
