About the Surah

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

When the sky will split apart.

And when the stars shall fall off.

And when all seas (will join and) will burst forth as a blazing-Fire (as in Surah At-Takwir:6) (These three things will occur at the blowing of the first Trumpet).

And when the graves (will be split open) and overturned (and dead will come out alive at the blowing of the second Trumpet).

Then every person will know the deeds he sent forth and (the examples) he left behind.

O mankind! What has deceived you regarding your Creator, the Most Gracious?

Who created you, perfected your organs and made them most proportionate. (Among all creatures, man’s body is the most proportionate).

He put you together in what-ever form He willed.

Not at all (i.e. it is not according to the thinking of the disbelievers). In fact, you even deny the Day of Judgement.

(Your denial will not be ignored.) Indeed, there are (angels as) security guards over you.

They are honourable (with Us) and they write down (your deeds).

They know all that you do.

(These deeds will be presented in the Hereafter) indeed, the pious persons will be in Delight (i.e. Paradise).

And, indeed, the disbelievers will be in Hell-Fire.

They will be thrown (in Hell-Fire) on the Day of Judgement.

And they will never be absent from there (i.e. they will reside there forever).

And what do you know about the Day of Judgement?

Again, what do you know about the Day of Judgement (This Verse is repeated to emphasize the horrors and hardships of the Day of Judgement).

(It will be) the Day when no person shall have power to benefit another person in any way. All Decisions that Day, will be with Allah (Alone). (Also see Surah Ghafir:16)
