About the Surah

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

 When the sun will be folded up and become without ligh (Hasan Basri). (Also see Verse 75:9)

And the stars shall fall (into the ocean) losing their light.

And the mountains shall be made to move from their location (and fly like wool).

And when the ten month preg-nant she-camel will be left unat-tended. (They are considered ex-tremely precious among the Arabs)

And when the wild animals shall be gathered together.

And when the seas shall be set ablaze (with the Command of Allah).

And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies.

And when the buried alive young girl will be questioned.

For what sin was she killed?

And when the Records of deeds will be opened.

And when the heaven shall be stripped off and shall become open (so that things above it can be seen).

And when Hell shall be set ablaze.

And when Paradise shall be brought near.

Then every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil).

So I swear by the stars that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night).

And by the stars that move swiftly and hide themselves.

And by the night when it is about to end.

And by the morning when it is about to break.

Indeed, this is the Word or rev-e-la-tions (brought by) an esteemed messenger [Jibrael ( ), from Allah to Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)].

He [Jibrael ( )] is powerful, and is highly honoured in the presence of the Owner of the Throne (i.e. Allah).

He is obeyed (by the angels in the heaven) and is trustworthy (conveys the revelations exactly).

And (O mankind!) your com-panion (Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) whom you knew closely for forty years) is not a madman.

And, indeed, he [Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] saw him [Jibrael ( ) in his original form] in the clear horizon (this was at the dawn of the Prophethood. He also saw Jibrael ( ) in original form in Miraaj too).

And he [Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] does not withhold any knowledge of the unseen (given to him by Allah).

And it (i.e. the Quran) is not the word of outcast Satan.

Then where are you going (from the Quran)?

Indeed, it (i.e. the Quran) is a reminder for mankind and jinn.

(It is specially a reminder for) he who among you intends to follow the Right Path.

And you cannot intend it except when Allah intends it for you – the Creator of the universe.
