About the Surah

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

By the night when it covers (the sun and the day),

By the day when it becomes bright.

By Him Who created male and female.

Indeed, your efforts (i.e. deeds) are of different kinds (hence, their results are different too).

So he who gives in charity and fears (Allah),       

And testifies good things.

       Then We will facilitate for him the Path leading to ease and comfort (i.e. Path to Paradise).

And he who is a miser (in fulfilling the obligatory rights of others) and considers himself self-sufficient.

And denies the good things (or, denies the Hereafter and account-ability).

We will facilitate for him the path leading to hardships (i.e. evil path leading to Hell).

And his wealth will not benefit him when he falls (headlong into Hell).

Indeed, it is Our responsibility to guide (which We do).

(Then We reward according to your deeds, since the sovereignty of) Here and the Hereafter is, indeed, Ours.

Hence, I have warned you about a blazing Hell-Fire.

None shall enter it (for good) except the most unfortunate person.

 Who denies (the truth) and turns away (from the truth).

 And the pious person will be kept far away from it.

Who gives his wealth to purify himself (from sins).

(And he does not spend) to return the favour done to him by others.

Except to seek the sole Pleasure of his Creator, the Most High.

And he will surely be pleased soon (when he will be admitted to Paradise).
