About the Surah

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

       The Most Gracious (Allah).

       (One of the spiritual Favours of Allah is that) He has taught (man-kind Commands in the) Quran.

       (One of His physical Favours is that) He created mankind.

       And taught him speech (e.g the child learns mother-tongue auto-matically). 

       (One of His heavenly Favours is that) the sun and the moon float in their precisely calculated orbits (which produces day and night, heat and cold etc).

       And the stars and the trees prostrate themselves (to Allah). (And they have many benefits for mankind). (Also see Surah Al-Hajj:18)

       And He has raised the heaven high and He has set up the Balance (in the worldly life). (Looking at the high sky we think of the Greatness of Allah. By balance we fulfil the rights of others and avoid many apparent and hidden evils). (Also see Surah Al-Hadid:25)

       (One way to thank Allah for this favour is) You don’t transgress in weighing. 

       And weigh correctly and don’t make a cheating balance.

       (And one of the Favours of Allah is that) He spread the earth for His creatures (with many benefits in it).

       It has fruits and palm trees which produce dates enclosed in a cover.

       And corn with cover (which is food for men and animals) and there are flowers with fragrance.

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both (jinn and men) deny?

       Allah created man (Adam) from sounding clay which is like (baked) clay of pottery.

       And created jinn from a smoke-less flame of fire (and enabled them both to produce children gene-ration after generation).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both (jinn and men) deny?

       He is the Creator of two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Creator of two wests (Many of our needs are dependent on the begin-ning and the end of the day or night which are produced by the rising and setting of the sun).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both (jinn and men) deny (in spite of abundance and greatness of these Favours)? 

       Allah made two rivers (salty and fresh water) (apparently) meet-ing each other.

       (In fact) there is a (natural) barrier between them, which they do not transgress. (We have dis-covered this barrier recently). (Also see Surah Al-Furqan:53)

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny? 

       Pearls and gems are brought out from both of them.

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny? 

       And the ships also belong to Him, which are (tall) like mountains, sailing in the seas (the benefits of ships are obvious).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       Whosoever is on it (the earth) will perish (eventually). (You should hurry to thank Allah for His Favours). 

       And the Face of your Creator, full of Majesty and Honour, will remain forever.

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       Whosoever is in the heavens and on the earth begs Him for his needs. (Even the residents of heaven need His Mercy). Every day (i.e. all the time) He is engaged in some affairs (e.g. giving life or death to others, giving provision or children and honour or disgrace etc).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       (Don’t think that after you perish, the game is over. You will be reborn and accountability will take place). We shall soon be free to pay attention to you (i.e. to take account), O you both, jinn and men!

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       O assembly of jinn and men! If you have the power to pass beyond the limits of the heavens and the earth, then go ahead, try it. But you will never be able to pass them except with authority (from Allah). (It is a Favour of Allah to guide us about it).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       (Just like you will be helpless at the time of account, similarly be helpless at the time of torment in the Hereafter). You will both be inflicted with smokeless flames of fire and molten copper and you will not be able to defend yourselves. (This guidance is also a Favour of Allah). 

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       (The Day of Resurrection will be just horrible. When it occurs) then the sky will split apart and it will become like red oil (or red hide). (This guidance is a Favour of Allah).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       So on that Day no question will be asked from men or jinn regarding their sins (since Allah already knows the good people and the criminals).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       (But how will angels recognize them?) The criminals will be known by their disposition or their faces. (The believers will have shining faces, hands etc due to ablution). So they (the criminals) will be seized by their forelocks and feet (and they will be thrown into Hell-Fire. This guidance is also a Favour of Allah).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       This is the Hell which you, the criminals, used to deny.

       They will rotate between Hell-Fire and hot boiling water. (This guidance is also a Favour of Allah).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       But for him who fears standing before his Creator, there will be two Gardens for him (in Paradise) (Note that once in a while everybody fears but this person fears all the time).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       Both Gardens will have many branches (i.e. there will be lot of shade and fruits).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       In both (Gardens), there will be two springs flowing freely (through long distances).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       In both (Gardens), there will be every fruit of two kinds. (Sometimes you enjoy one kind, other times you enjoy the other kind, for a change).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       They will be reclining upon couches lined with silk brocade, and the fruit of the two Gardens will be very near. (They can reach the fruit sitting, standing or reclining without any effort on their part).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       In both (Gardens) will be chaste wives with restraining glanc-es (desiring none except their hus-bands) whom no man or jinn ever touched before (i.e. virgins).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       They will be (beautiful) like rubies and gems.

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       Is there any reward for nobility and goodness other than sheer goodness (i.e. Paradise)?

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       And besides these two, there are two other Gardens (in Paradise).

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       Of dark green colour.

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       In both of them will be two springs gushing out.

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       In both will be fruits, dates and pomegranates.

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       In both (gardens) will be chaste and lovely ladies.

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       Beautiful females residing in pavilions.

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       Whom no man or jinn had touched before.

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny?

       Reclining on green cushions with nice and beautiful floors.

       So which of the Favours of your Creator will you both deny (in spite of abundance and greatness of these Favours)?

       Blessed is the Name of your Creator, the Owner of Majesty and Honour.
