قَالَ ٱخۡسَ‍ُٔواْ فِيهَا وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ 108

108        (Allah will say): “You remain in it disgraced, and don’t speak to Me!”

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَرِيقٞ مِّنۡ عِبَادِي يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَا وَٱرۡحَمۡنَا وَأَنتَ خَيۡرُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ 109

109        Indeed, there was a group of my obedient servant, who used to say: “Our Creator! We believe, so forgive us, and have mercy on us, since you are the Best of all those who show mercy!”

فَٱتَّخَذۡتُمُوهُمۡ سِخۡرِيًّا حَتَّىٰٓ أَنسَوۡكُمۡ ذِكۡرِي وَكُنتُم مِّنۡهُمۡ تَضۡحَكُونَ 110

110        So you mocked at them, (as a hobby) until (this hobby made you forget) My Remembrance while you used to make fun of them.

إِنِّي جَزَيۡتُهُمُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ بِمَا صَبَرُوٓاْ أَنَّهُمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡفَآئِزُونَ 111

111        Indeed, I have rewarded them today for their patience; they are, indeed, the successful ones.

قَٰلَ كَمۡ لَبِثۡتُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ عَدَدَ سِنِينَ 112

112        (Allah will) Say: “How many years have you stayed on the earth?”

قَالُواْ لَبِثۡنَا يَوۡمًا أَوۡ بَعۡضَ يَوۡمٖ فَسۡ‍َٔلِ ٱلۡعَآدِّينَ 113

113        They will say: “We stayed a day or a part of a day only (we cannot say), so ask them who keep the count (i.e. ask the angels).”

قَٰلَ إِن لَّبِثۡتُمۡ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗاۖ لَّوۡ أَنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ 114

114        (Allah will) Say: “You stayed only a little while, if you had known it (or realized it).

أَفَحَسِبۡتُمۡ أَنَّمَا خَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ عَبَثٗا وَأَنَّكُمۡ إِلَيۡنَا لَا تُرۡجَعُونَ 115

115        “Do you think that We created you in vain (i.e. without any purpose), and that you would not be brought back to us?”

فَتَعَٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡكَرِيمِ 116

116        So Exalted is Allah, the True King. None has the right to be worshipped except Him, the Creator of the Supreme Throne!

وَمَن يَدۡعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ لَا بُرۡهَٰنَ لَهُۥ بِهِۦ فَإِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦٓۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفۡلِحُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ 117

117        And whoever worships other gods along with Allah, of whom he has no proof, then he will be accountable to Allah for it. Indeed, disbelievers will not be successful.

وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱغۡفِرۡ وَٱرۡحَمۡ وَأَنتَ خَيۡرُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ 118

118        [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] Say: “O my Creator, forgive (my sins) and have mercy on me (in all situations), since you are the Best of those who show mercy!  

سُورَةٌ أَنزَلۡنَٰهَا وَفَرَضۡنَٰهَا وَأَنزَلۡنَا فِيهَآ ءَايَٰتِۢ بَيِّنَٰتٖ لَّعَلَّكُمۡ تَذَكَّرُونَ 1

1        This is a chapter of the Quran which We have sent down and ordained (the Commands in it) and We have sent in this Our clear Revelations so that you may remember them (and follow them).

ٱلزَّانِيَةُ وَٱلزَّانِي فَٱجۡلِدُواْ كُلَّ وَٰحِدٖ مِّنۡهُمَا مِاْئَةَ جَلۡدَةٖۖ وَلَا تَأۡخُذۡكُم بِهِمَا رَأۡفَةٞ فِي دِينِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ تُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِۖ وَلۡيَشۡهَدۡ عَذَابَهُمَا طَآئِفَةٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ 2

2        The fornicatress and fornicator, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. You should not show any pity to both of them while acting in accordance with the religion of Allah, if you believe in Allah and the last Day. And let a group of believers witness their punishment. (Note here (i) fornication means when an unmarried person has sex with somebody (ii) adultery means when a married person has sex with somebody).

ٱلزَّانِي لَا يَنكِحُ إِلَّا زَانِيَةً أَوۡ مُشۡرِكَةٗ وَٱلزَّانِيَةُ لَا يَنكِحُهَآ إِلَّا زَانٍ أَوۡ مُشۡرِكٞۚ وَحُرِّمَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ 3

3        (Adultery and fornication are, indeed, very evil activities). The adulterer – fornicator does not marry except an adulteress – fornicatress or a mushrikah (idolater woman), and the adulteress – fornicatress does not marry except an adulterer – fornicator or a mushrik (i.e. idolater). Such marriages are forbidden for the believers.

وَٱلَّذِينَ يَرۡمُونَ ٱلۡمُحۡصَنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَأۡتُواْ بِأَرۡبَعَةِ شُهَدَآءَ فَٱجۡلِدُوهُمۡ ثَمَٰنِينَ جَلۡدَةٗ وَلَا تَقۡبَلُواْ لَهُمۡ شَهَٰدَةً أَبَدٗاۚ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡفَٰسِقُونَ 4

4        And those who accuse chaste women, and don’t produce four witnesses, flog them with eighty stripes. And don’t accept their testimony forever. And they are disobedient people.

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ تَابُواْ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ذَٰلِكَ وَأَصۡلَحُواْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ 5

5        Except those who repent thereafter and reform themselves (by doing good deeds). So, indeed, Allah is Very Forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَٱلَّذِينَ يَرۡمُونَ أَزۡوَٰجَهُمۡ وَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهُمۡ شُهَدَآءُ إِلَّآ أَنفُسُهُمۡ فَشَهَٰدَةُ أَحَدِهِمۡ أَرۡبَعُ شَهَٰدَٰتِۢ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ 6

6        And those who accuse their wives, but they have no witnesses except themselves. Then the testimony of one of them is equivalent to four if he testifies four times by Allah stating that he is one of those who speak the truth.

وَٱلۡخَٰمِسَةُ أَنَّ لَعۡنَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡهِ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ 7

7        And his fifth testimony should be (stating) Curse of Allah be on him if he is one of those who tell a lie (against her).

وَيَدۡرَؤُاْ عَنۡهَا ٱلۡعَذَابَ أَن تَشۡهَدَ أَرۡبَعَ شَهَٰدَٰتِۢ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ 8

8        And she shall prevent the punishment (of stoning to death) for her, if she testifies four times by Allah that her husband is telling a lie.

وَٱلۡخَٰمِسَةَ أَنَّ غَضَبَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡهَآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ 9

9        And her fifth testimony should be that the Wrath of Allah be upon her if her husband speaks the truth. (In this way both husband and wife are saved from the worldly punish-ment. However that woman will become forbidden for that man).
