لَّهُمۡ عَذَابٞ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ أَشَقُّۖ وَمَا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَاقٖ 34

34        There is a torment for them in this world, and the torment of the Hereafter is much more severe. And they have no protector against Allah.

۞مَّثَلُ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ ٱلَّتِي وُعِدَ ٱلۡمُتَّقُونَۖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۖ أُكُلُهَا دَآئِمٞ وَظِلُّهَاۚ تِلۡكَ عُقۡبَى ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَواْۚ وَّعُقۡبَى ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ ٱلنَّارُ 35

35        The characteristics of the Paradise which is promised to the pious people are: Beneath it rivers flow, its provision is eternal and so is its shade. This is the final residence of the pious and the final residence of the disbelievers is Fire.

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ يَفۡرَحُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡكَۖ وَمِنَ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابِ مَن يُنكِرُ بَعۡضَهُۥۚ قُلۡ إِنَّمَآ أُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ ٱللَّهَ وَلَآ أُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦٓۚ إِلَيۡهِ أَدۡعُواْ وَإِلَيۡهِ مَ‍َٔابِ 36

36        And those, whom We have given the Book, rejoice at what has been sent down to you (e.g. Abdullah bin Salam) but other groups reject some parts of the Quran. [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] Say: “I am commanded to worship Allah (Alone) and not to join partners with Him. To Him (Alone) I invite you and to Him is my return.”

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ حُكۡمًا عَرَبِيّٗاۚ وَلَئِنِ ٱتَّبَعۡتَ أَهۡوَآءَهُم بَعۡدَمَا جَآءَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ مَا لَكَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِيّٖ وَلَا وَاقٖ 37

37        And thus We have sent down the commands of the Quran in Arabic. And if you [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] follow their (Jews and Christians) desires after the knowledge has come to you, then you will not have any protector or defender against Allah.

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلٗا مِّن قَبۡلِكَ وَجَعَلۡنَا لَهُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا وَذُرِّيَّةٗۚ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأۡتِيَ بِ‍َٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۗ لِكُلِّ أَجَلٖ كِتَابٞ 38

38        And, indeed, We sent many messengers before you and they had wives and children. And it was not for a messenger to bring a sign (or miracle) except with Allah’s Permission. For every matter, there is a Decree (from Allah).

يَمۡحُواْ ٱللَّهُ مَا يَشَآءُ وَيُثۡبِتُۖ وَعِندَهُۥٓ أُمُّ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ 39

39        Allah cancels (any command) what He wills and retains (any command) what He wills. And with Him is the Mother of the Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).

وَإِن مَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعۡضَ ٱلَّذِي نَعِدُهُمۡ أَوۡ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡبَلَٰغُ وَعَلَيۡنَا ٱلۡحِسَابُ 40

40        And whether We show you [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] part of (the punishment for the disbelievers) what We have promised, or cause you to die, your duty is only to convey (the message) and it is Our responsibility to have their accountability.

أَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ أَنَّا نَأۡتِي ٱلۡأَرۡضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنۡ أَطۡرَافِهَاۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَحۡكُمُ لَا مُعَقِّبَ لِحُكۡمِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ سَرِيعُ ٱلۡحِسَابِ 41

41        Don’t they see that We gradu-ally reduce the land (of the disbe-lievers transferring to the believers through victories in wars) from all borders? (This is a punishment for the disbelievers). Allah commands everything and none has the power to reject His commands. And Allah is very Swift in taking account.

وَقَدۡ مَكَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ فَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡمَكۡرُ جَمِيعٗاۖ يَعۡلَمُ مَا تَكۡسِبُ كُلُّ نَفۡسٖۗ وَسَيَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡكُفَّٰرُ لِمَنۡ عُقۡبَى ٱلدَّارِ 42

42        People did plot before these disbelievers, but all planning is Allah’s. He knows what every person does, and the disbelievers will soon know who gets good end (even in this worldly life).

وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَسۡتَ مُرۡسَلٗاۚ قُلۡ كَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدَۢا بَيۡنِي وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ وَمَنۡ عِندَهُۥ عِلۡمُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ 43

43        And the disbelievers say: “[O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] You are not a messenger.” Say: “Allah is suffi-cient as a witness between me and you and also those who have the knowledge of the Scriptures (e.g. Abdullah bin Salaam).”

الٓرۚ كِتَٰبٌ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ إِلَيۡكَ لِتُخۡرِجَ ٱلنَّاسَ مِنَ ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡحَمِيدِ 1

1        Alif-Lam-Ra (Only Allah knows their meanings). (This is) a Book which We have sent down to you [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] so that you might lead mankind out of (all forms of) darkness (i.e. ignorances) into light with the Permission of your Creator to the Path of the All-Mighty, the Owner of All-Praise.

ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِي لَهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَوَيۡلٞ لِّلۡكَٰفِرِينَ مِنۡ عَذَابٖ شَدِيدٍ 2

2        Allah to Whom belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth and woe to the disbelievers from a severe torment.

ٱلَّذِينَ يَسۡتَحِبُّونَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا عَلَى ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَبۡغُونَهَا عِوَجًاۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ فِي ضَلَٰلِۢ بَعِيدٖ 3

3        Those who love the worldly life against the Hereafter and hinder (others) from the Path of Allah and look for crookedness in it. They have gone far astray.

وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا بِلِسَانِ قَوۡمِهِۦ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمۡۖ فَيُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهۡدِي مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ 4

4        And We have not sent any messenger except with the language of his people so that he might convey (the message) clearly to them. Then Allah misleads whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوسَىٰ بِ‍َٔايَٰتِنَآ أَنۡ أَخۡرِجۡ قَوۡمَكَ مِنَ ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ وَذَكِّرۡهُم بِأَيَّىٰمِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٖ شَكُورٖ 5

5        And, indeed, We sent Musa ( peace be upon him )  with Our proofs (instructing him): “Bring out your people from darkness into light, and remind them of the Favours of Allah (through the historical events mentioned below). Indeed, there are signs in these for every patient, thankful person.”

وَإِذۡ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوۡمِهِ ٱذۡكُرُواْ نِعۡمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡكُمۡ إِذۡ أَنجَىٰكُم مِّنۡ ءَالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ يَسُومُونَكُمۡ سُوٓءَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ وَيُذَبِّحُونَ أَبۡنَآءَكُمۡ وَيَسۡتَحۡيُونَ نِسَآءَكُمۡۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكُم بَلَآءٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ عَظِيمٞ 6

6        And (remember) when Musa ( peace be upon him )  said to his people: “Try to recall Allah’s favours to you, when He rescued you from the people of Firaun who were inflicting you with a terrible torment, by killing your sons and letting your ladies survive. And there was a big test for you in it from your Creator.”

وَإِذۡ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمۡ لَئِن شَكَرۡتُمۡ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمۡۖ وَلَئِن كَفَرۡتُمۡ إِنَّ عَذَابِي لَشَدِيدٞ 7

7        And (remember) when your Creator announced: “If you give thanks, I will increase (My blessings on you), but if you do not give thanks (i.e. be disbelievers), indeed, my punishment is very severe.”

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِن تَكۡفُرُوٓاْ أَنتُمۡ وَمَن فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ جَمِيعٗا فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَنِيٌّ حَمِيدٌ 8

8        And Musa ( peace be upon him )  said: “If you and all those on the earth disbelieve, then, indeed, Allah is All-Rich (free of all needs), Owner of all Praise.”

أَلَمۡ يَأۡتِكُمۡ نَبَؤُاْ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ قَوۡمِ نُوحٖ وَعَادٖ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُهُمۡ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُۚ جَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَرَدُّوٓاْ أَيۡدِيَهُمۡ فِيٓ أَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡ وَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا كَفَرۡنَا بِمَآ أُرۡسِلۡتُم بِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَفِي شَكّٖ مِّمَّا تَدۡعُونَنَآ إِلَيۡهِ مُرِيبٖ 9

9        Did you not hear the stories of those before you, the people of Nuh ( peace be upon him ) , and A’d and Thamud and those after them? Nobody knows (the details) of these stories except Allah. (The summary of those stories is as follows). Their messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they put their hands in the mouths of their messengers (i.e. preventing them even to speak). And they said: “We disbelieve in what you have been sent with and we are in grave doubt in that which you invite us to.”

۞قَالَتۡ رُسُلُهُمۡ أَفِي ٱللَّهِ شَكّٞ فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ يَدۡعُوكُمۡ لِيَغۡفِرَ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمۡ وَيُؤَخِّرَكُمۡ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمّٗىۚ قَالُوٓاْ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُنَا تُرِيدُونَ أَن تَصُدُّونَا عَمَّا كَانَ يَعۡبُدُ ءَابَآؤُنَا فَأۡتُونَا بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٖ 10

10        Their messengers said: “Do you doubt about Allah who is the Creator of the heavens and the earth? Allah is inviting you so that He may forgive your sins, and grant you delay for a fixed period.” They said: “You are only a human being like us! You wish to stop us from what our forefathers used to worship. So bring us a clear miracle.”
