قَالُواْ رَبُّنَا يَعۡلَمُ إِنَّآ إِلَيۡكُمۡ لَمُرۡسَلُونَ 16

16        The messengers said: “Our Creator knows that, indeed, we have been sent (as messengers) to you,

وَمَا عَلَيۡنَآ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِينُ 17

17        And we are here to simply convey the clear message.”

قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا تَطَيَّرۡنَا بِكُمۡۖ لَئِن لَّمۡ تَنتَهُواْ لَنَرۡجُمَنَّكُمۡ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ 18

18        The people said: “Indeed, we consider you an evil omen for us. If you don’t stop, we will surely stone you (to death) and you will surely have a painful punishment from us.”

قَالُواْ طَٰٓئِرُكُم مَّعَكُمۡ أَئِن ذُكِّرۡتُمۚ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٞ مُّسۡرِفُونَ 19

19        The messengers said: “Your evil omens are with you (i.e. due to your evil deeds). (Do you call it an evil omen) when you are given a (sincere) advice? In fact, you are a people who are extreme transgressors.”

وَجَآءَ مِنۡ أَقۡصَا ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٞ يَسۡعَىٰ قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ ٱتَّبِعُواْ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ 20

20        And there came a man running from the farthest part of the town. He said: “O my people! Obey the messengers.

ٱتَّبِعُواْ مَن لَّا يَسۡ‍َٔلُكُمۡ أَجۡرٗا وَهُم مُّهۡتَدُونَ 21

21 “Do obey those who even don’t ask you any reward (for their service), and they are rightly guided.

وَمَا لِيَ لَآ أَعۡبُدُ ٱلَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ 22

22        “And why should I not worship Him Who has created me and to whom you (all) shall be returned.

ءَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً إِن يُرِدۡنِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ بِضُرّٖ لَّا تُغۡنِ عَنِّي شَفَٰعَتُهُمۡ شَيۡ‍ٔٗا وَلَا يُنقِذُونِ 23

23        “Should I worship others besides Him? In case the Most Gracious (Allah) wishes to harm me, their intercession will not benefit me, nor can they save me (from Allah).

إِنِّيٓ إِذٗا لَّفِي ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٍ 24

24        “Then, indeed, I shall be in obvious error.

إِنِّيٓ ءَامَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمۡ فَٱسۡمَعُونِ 25

25        “Listen to me. Indeed, I have sincerely believed in your Creator” (in this way he made everyone witness to his Faith. But the disbelievers did not listen to him and killed him).

قِيلَ ٱدۡخُلِ ٱلۡجَنَّةَۖ قَالَ يَٰلَيۡتَ قَوۡمِي يَعۡلَمُونَ 26

26        It was said (to him): “Enter Paradise.” He said: “Would that my people knew,

بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ ٱلۡمُكۡرَمِينَ 27

27        “That my Creator (Allah) has forgiven me and made me from the honoured people!”

۞وَمَآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ مِن جُندٖ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِينَ 28

28        And We did not send any army from the heavens against his people after him, and it was not necessary for Us to send one. 

إِن كَانَتۡ إِلَّا صَيۡحَةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ فَإِذَا هُمۡ خَٰمِدُونَ 29

29        It was only a big shout, so they were reduced to ashes instantly.

يَٰحَسۡرَةً عَلَى ٱلۡعِبَادِۚ مَا يَأۡتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ 30

30        Alas for mankind! Whenever a messenger came to them they mocked him.

أَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ كَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمۡ إِلَيۡهِمۡ لَا يَرۡجِعُونَ 31

31        Don’t they see how many of the communities We have destroyed before them, that they will not return to them?

وَإِن كُلّٞ لَّمَّا جَمِيعٞ لَّدَيۡنَا مُحۡضَرُونَ 32

32        And, indeed, every one of them will be brought before Us.

وَءَايَةٞ لَّهُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ ٱلۡمَيۡتَةُ أَحۡيَيۡنَٰهَا وَأَخۡرَجۡنَا مِنۡهَا حَبّٗا فَمِنۡهُ يَأۡكُلُونَ 33

33        (In the following Verses the signs of the Power of Allah and His Favours are described). And one of the signs for them is dead land. We revive it and bring out grain from it, so they eat from it.

وَجَعَلۡنَا فِيهَا جَنَّٰتٖ مِّن نَّخِيلٖ وَأَعۡنَٰبٖ وَفَجَّرۡنَا فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلۡعُيُونِ 34

34        And We have made in it gardens of palm trees and grapes and We have made springs of water flow out of it (for the irrigation of these gardens).

لِيَأۡكُلُواْ مِن ثَمَرِهِۦ وَمَا عَمِلَتۡهُ أَيۡدِيهِمۡۚ أَفَلَا يَشۡكُرُونَ 35

35        So that (like grain) people eat from its fruits. And this (grain and fruit) their hands did not make (although they put the seed and irrigated, but they have nothing to do in producing grain or fruits. Only Allah did. After seeing these proofs) then why don’t they thank (Allah)?
