Order in Al-Mushaf : 68
Ayah number : 10
وَلَا تُطِعۡ كُلَّ حَلَّافٖ مَّهِينٍ 10
10 [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] Don’t obey everyone who swears much and is a liar or is worthless (Tabari).
Ayah number : 11
هَمَّازٖ مَّشَّآءِۢ بِنَمِيمٖ 11
11 A defamer, going around with slandering
Ayah number : 12
مَّنَّاعٖ لِّلۡخَيۡرِ مُعۡتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ 12
12 Who hinders the noble work, is a transgressor and sinful,
Ayah number : 13
عُتُلِّۢ بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ 13
13 Cruel and moreover of illegiti-mate birth.
Ayah number : 14
أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٖ وَبَنِينَ 14
14 (His arrogance is due to) his wealth and children.
Ayah number : 15
إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ 15
15 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him, he says: “These are stories of the ancient people!”
Ayah number : 16
سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلۡخُرۡطُومِ 16
16 We shall brand on (his) nose: (He will be easily identified as loser in the Hereafter).
Ayah number : 17
إِنَّا بَلَوۡنَٰهُمۡ كَمَا بَلَوۡنَآ أَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ إِذۡ أَقۡسَمُواْ لَيَصۡرِمُنَّهَا مُصۡبِحِينَ 17
17 We are testing (the disbelievers of Makkah with the luxuries of life) just like We tested the owners of the garden when they swore that they will definitely collect the fruits of the garden as soon as the day dawns,
Ayah number : 18
وَلَا يَسۡتَثۡنُونَ 18
18 And without saying: “If Allah wills.”
Ayah number : 19
فَطَافَ عَلَيۡهَا طَآئِفٞ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمۡ نَآئِمُونَ 19
19 So some (calamity) from your Creator encircled the garden while they were still asleep.
Ayah number : 20
فَأَصۡبَحَتۡ كَٱلصَّرِيمِ 20
20 Hence, the garden became barren like chopped up crop.
Ayah number : 21
فَتَنَادَوۡاْ مُصۡبِحِينَ 21
21 So they called each other early in the morning.
Ayah number : 22
أَنِ ٱغۡدُواْ عَلَىٰ حَرۡثِكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰرِمِينَ 22
22 (Saying): “Proceed to your crop early in the morning if you wish to pluck the fruits.”
Ayah number : 23
فَٱنطَلَقُواْ وَهُمۡ يَتَخَٰفَتُونَ 23
23 So they proceeded (to the fields) talking in low tones (saying):
Ayah number : 24
أَن لَّا يَدۡخُلَنَّهَا ٱلۡيَوۡمَ عَلَيۡكُم مِّسۡكِينٞ 24
24 “Let not any needy person join you today.”
Ayah number : 25
وَغَدَوۡاْ عَلَىٰ حَرۡدٖ قَٰدِرِينَ 25
25 They rushed to the fields early in the morning (being confident) that they have full control (over the crop).
Ayah number : 26
فَلَمَّا رَأَوۡهَا قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ 26
26 When they saw the garden they said: “Indeed, we have lost our way (to the fields).”
Ayah number : 27
بَلۡ نَحۡنُ مَحۡرُومُونَ 27
27 (After examining the location of the fields, they soon realized and said): “In fact, we are deprived of (the fruits).”
Ayah number : 28
قَالَ أَوۡسَطُهُمۡ أَلَمۡ أَقُل لَّكُمۡ لَوۡلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ 28
28 The best among them said: “Did I not remind you to glorify Allah (or to say: ‘If Allah wills.’)”
Ayah number : 29
قَالُواْ سُبۡحَٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ 29
29 They said: “Glory to our Cre-ator. Indeed, we were the wrong-doers.”
