كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمۡ يَنتَهِ لَنَسۡفَعَۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ 15

15 Not at all. In fact if he (Abu Jahl) does not stop (hindering noble activity of praying), We will drag him by the forelock (or forehead).

نَاصِيَةٖ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٖ 16

16 The forelock which is of a liar and sinful person.

فَلۡيَدۡعُ نَادِيَهُۥ 17

17 Then let him call upon the members of his assembly (for help).

سَنَدۡعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ 18

18 We will call out the angels of punishment (to disgrace him). Musnad Ahmad 1/329

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعۡهُ وَٱسۡجُدۡۤ وَٱقۡتَرِب۩ 19

19        Not at all (i.e. the thinking of the disbelievers is not correct.) [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] Do not obey him (i.e. Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near (to Allah).

إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ فِي لَيۡلَةِ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ 1

1 Indeed, We sent it (i.e. Quran) down during the Night of Power

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ 2

2 And what do you know about the Night of Power?

لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ خَيۡرٞ مِّنۡ أَلۡفِ شَهۡرٖ 3

3        The Night of Power is better than a thousand months (i.e. wor-ship of Allah during this night is better than worship done in thou-sand months).

تَنَزَّلُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمۡرٖ 4

4        During this night, angels and Jibrael ( peace be upon him ) descend with the Permission of their Creator to execute His every command.

سَلَٰمٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطۡلَعِ ٱلۡفَجۡرِ 5

5        (This whole) night is in total peace and tranquility until the appearance of dawn. (i.e. it is not true that only some parts of this night has those characteristics).

لَمۡ يَكُنِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأۡتِيَهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ 1

1        The disbelievers from the people of the Scripture and idolaters were not going to quit (disbelief) until there came to them the clear evidence.

رَسُولٞ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ يَتۡلُواْ صُحُفٗا مُّطَهَّرَةٗ 2

2        (And that clear evidence was) a messenger [Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] from Allah who would recite to them purified pages (purified from falsehood).

فِيهَا كُتُبٞ قَيِّمَةٞ 3

3 (In those pages are) correct and straight commands (from Allah).

وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَتۡهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ 4

4        And the People of the Scripture differed among themselves only after this clear evidence came to them.

وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓاْ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ حُنَفَآءَ وَيُقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤۡتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَۚ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ ٱلۡقَيِّمَةِ 5

5        The only command given to them was to worship Allah, submitting themselves to Allah’s religion sincerely with single mind, and perform Salat and pay the poor-due. And that is the correct religion.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمۡ شَرُّ ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ 6

6        Indeed, the disbelievers from the People of the Scripture and idolaters will be in Hell-Fire to reside there forever. They are the worst of creatures.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمۡ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ 7

7 Indeed, those who believe and do good deeds, they are the best of creatures.

جَزَآؤُهُمۡ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ جَنَّٰتُ عَدۡنٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدٗاۖ رَّضِيَ ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَرَضُواْ عَنۡهُۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنۡ خَشِيَ رَبَّهُۥ 8

8 Their reward with their Creator is Gardens of Eternity (i.e. Paradise) beneath which rivers flow. They will reside there forever. Allah will be pleased with them, and they will be pleased with Allah. That is for him who fears his Creator.

إِذَا زُلۡزِلَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ زِلۡزَالَهَا 1

1 When the earth is shaken with its (biggest) earthquake.

وَأَخۡرَجَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ أَثۡقَالَهَا 2

2 And it will throw out its burdens (i.e. dead bodies will come to life and come out of their graves).
