إِذۡ قَالَ ٱلۡحَوَارِيُّونَ يَٰعِيسَى ٱبۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ هَلۡ يَسۡتَطِيعُ رَبُّكَ أَن يُنَزِّلَ عَلَيۡنَا مَآئِدَةٗ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِۖ قَالَ ٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ 112

112        (Remember) when the dis-ciples said: “O Isa (peace be upon him ), son of Maryam! Can your Creator send down to us a table spread (with food) from heaven?” Isa (peace be upon him ) said: “Fear Allah, if you are believers.”

قَالُواْ نُرِيدُ أَن نَّأۡكُلَ مِنۡهَا وَتَطۡمَئِنَّ قُلُوبُنَا وَنَعۡلَمَ أَن قَدۡ صَدَقۡتَنَا وَنَكُونَ عَلَيۡهَا مِنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ 113

113        They said: “We wish to eat from that and to satisfy our hearts (i.e. to strengthen our Faith), and to know that you have, indeed, told us the truth and so that we are among its witnesses.”

قَالَ عِيسَى ٱبۡنُ مَرۡيَمَ ٱللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَآ أَنزِلۡ عَلَيۡنَا مَآئِدَةٗ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ تَكُونُ لَنَا عِيدٗا لِّأَوَّلِنَا وَءَاخِرِنَا وَءَايَةٗ مِّنكَۖ وَٱرۡزُقۡنَا وَأَنتَ خَيۡرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ 114

114        Isa (peace be upon him ), son of Maryam, said: “O our Creator! Send us from the heaven a table spread (with food) so that it becomes a matter of celebration for us, for the first and the last of us, and it may serve as a sign from You and grant us sustenance, for You are the Best sustainer.”

قَالَ ٱللَّهُ إِنِّي مُنَزِّلُهَا عَلَيۡكُمۡۖ فَمَن يَكۡفُرۡ بَعۡدُ مِنكُمۡ فَإِنِّيٓ أُعَذِّبُهُۥ عَذَابٗا لَّآ أُعَذِّبُهُۥٓ أَحَدٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ 115

115        Allah said: “I am going to send it (food) for you, and whoever will be ungrateful after this, I shall punish him with a torment such as I have not inflicted on anyone in the universe.”

وَإِذۡ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ يَٰعِيسَى ٱبۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ ءَأَنتَ قُلۡتَ لِلنَّاسِ ٱتَّخِذُونِي وَأُمِّيَ إِلَٰهَيۡنِ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۖ قَالَ سُبۡحَٰنَكَ مَا يَكُونُ لِيٓ أَنۡ أَقُولَ مَا لَيۡسَ لِي بِحَقٍّۚ إِن كُنتُ قُلۡتُهُۥ فَقَدۡ عَلِمۡتَهُۥۚ تَعۡلَمُ مَا فِي نَفۡسِي وَلَآ أَعۡلَمُ مَا فِي نَفۡسِكَۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ عَلَّٰمُ ٱلۡغُيُوبِ 116

116        And (remember) when Allah will say (on the Day of Resur-rection): “O Isa, son of Maryam! Did you say to the people: ‘Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allah.’” Isa (peace be upon him ) will say: “Glorified You are! It is not proper for me to say anything which I have no right to say. Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You fully know what is in my inner-self though I don’t know what is in Yours. You, only You, know all that is unseen.

مَا قُلۡتُ لَهُمۡ إِلَّا مَآ أَمَرۡتَنِي بِهِۦٓ أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّي وَرَبَّكُمۡۚ وَكُنتُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ شَهِيدٗا مَّا دُمۡتُ فِيهِمۡۖ فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيۡتَنِي كُنتَ أَنتَ ٱلرَّقِيبَ عَلَيۡهِمۡۚ وَأَنتَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ شَهِيدٌ 117

117        “I did not say anything except that which You commanded me to say: ‘Worship Allah, my Creator and your Creator.’ And I was a witness over them as long as I stayed with them, but when You took me up, You were the Watcher over them, and You are a Witness to all things.

إِن تُعَذِّبۡهُمۡ فَإِنَّهُمۡ عِبَادُكَۖ وَإِن تَغۡفِرۡ لَهُمۡ فَإِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ 118

118        “If You punish them, then they are your slaves and if You forgive them, then indeed, You, only You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.”

قَالَ ٱللَّهُ هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ يَنفَعُ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ صِدۡقُهُمۡۚ لَهُمۡ جَنَّٰتٞ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدٗاۖ رَّضِيَ ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَرَضُواْ عَنۡهُۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ 119

119        Allah will say: “This is a Day in which the truthful will benefit from their truth. They will have Gardens beneath which rivers flow, they shall reside there forever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Allah. That is the great success.”

لِلَّهِ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا فِيهِنَّۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرُۢ 120

120        Allah is the Sovereign of the heavens and the earth and all that is therein, and He is Able to do all things.

ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَجَعَلَ ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ وَٱلنُّورَۖ ثُمَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِرَبِّهِمۡ يَعۡدِلُونَ 1

1        All (forms of) praise and thanks are for Allah (Alone), Who created the heavens and the earth and made (all shades of) darkness and light, yet the disbelievers hold others equal to their Creator.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن طِينٖ ثُمَّ قَضَىٰٓ أَجَلٗاۖ وَأَجَلٞ مُّسَمًّى عِندَهُۥۖ ثُمَّ أَنتُمۡ تَمۡتَرُونَ 2

2        He is the one Who created you [Adam (peace be upon him )] from clay and then fixed a term for you (to die). And there is another fixed term with Him (when you will be resurrected), yet you doubt (in the Resurrection)? (He Who gave you the first life, why should He not be able to resurrect?).

وَهُوَ ٱللَّهُ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَفِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ يَعۡلَمُ سِرَّكُمۡ وَجَهۡرَكُمۡ وَيَعۡلَمُ مَا تَكۡسِبُونَ 3

3        He (i.e. Allah) is (worshipped) in the heavens and on the earth. He knows what you conceal and what you reveal, and He knows your deeds (good and bad).

وَمَا تَأۡتِيهِم مِّنۡ ءَايَةٖ مِّنۡ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ إِلَّا كَانُواْ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِينَ 4

4        And whenever a sign comes to them (the disbelievers) from the signs of Allah, they turn away from it. (This is the habit of the disbelievers).

فَقَدۡ كَذَّبُواْ بِٱلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡ فَسَوۡفَ يَأۡتِيهِمۡ أَنۢبَٰٓؤُاْ مَا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ 5

5        (Following their habit) So they rejected the truth [i.e. the Quran and [Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] when it reached them. (Their rejection will not be ignored) so soon will come to them the news of (that torment) which they used to mock at.

أَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ كَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّن قَرۡنٖ مَّكَّنَّٰهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مَا لَمۡ نُمَكِّن لَّكُمۡ وَأَرۡسَلۡنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيۡهِم مِّدۡرَارٗا وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرَ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهِمۡ فَأَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمۡ وَأَنشَأۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قَرۡنًا ءَاخَرِينَ 6

6        Have they not seen how many communities We have destroyed before them whom We had established in the land more than We have established you, and We sent plenty of rain for them from the sky, and We made rivers flow under them? (In spite of their worldly power and comforts of life) then We destroyed them for their sins, and We raised other communities after them.

وَلَوۡ نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ كِتَٰبٗا فِي قِرۡطَاسٖ فَلَمَسُوهُ بِأَيۡدِيهِمۡ لَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٞ 7

7        And even if We had sent down to you [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] a message written on paper so that they could touch it with their hands (according to their demand), the disbelievers would have said: “This is nothing but an obvious magic!” (Also Surah Al-Hijr:14, 15)

وَقَالُواْ لَوۡلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيۡهِ مَلَكٞۖ وَلَوۡ أَنزَلۡنَا مَلَكٗا لَّقُضِيَ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ ثُمَّ لَا يُنظَرُونَ 8

8        And they say: “Why has not an angel been sent down to Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) (so that we see and talk to the angel)? (Allah says:) “If We had sent down an angel, the whole matter would have been judged at once without delaying (their punishment).

وَلَوۡ جَعَلۡنَٰهُ مَلَكٗا لَّجَعَلۡنَٰهُ رَجُلٗا وَلَلَبَسۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم مَّا يَلۡبِسُونَ 9

9        (Since people will be scared to see an angel in its original form) and even if We chose to send an angel, We would have sent him in the human form, and this action of Ours would confuse them as they are confused now.

وَلَقَدِ ٱسۡتُهۡزِئَ بِرُسُلٖ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِينَ سَخِرُواْ مِنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ 10

10        (Don’t be sad at their non-sensical demands). And, indeed, many messengers before you were mocked at. Then those who mocked among them were entrapped by (torment) which they used to mock at.

قُلۡ سِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ثُمَّ ٱنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ 11

11        [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] Say: “Travel in the land and see what was the fate of those who denied the truth.”
