وَمَا كَانَ هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ أَن يُفۡتَرَىٰ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَٰكِن تَصۡدِيقَ ٱلَّذِي بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡهِ وَتَفۡصِيلَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ لَا رَيۡبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ 37

37        And this Quran is not such that it can be coined by others without (the revelations from) Allah. In fact it confirms the Books revealed before the Quran and it gives full explanation of the Book (i.e. important Islamic laws). There is no doubt that it is from the Creator of the universe.

أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۖ قُلۡ فَأۡتُواْ بِسُورَةٖ مِّثۡلِهِۦ وَٱدۡعُواْ مَنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ 38

38        Or do they say: “He [Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] has forged it?” Say “Bring one chapter like it, and call upon whomsoever you can besides Allah, if you are truthful.”

بَلۡ كَذَّبُواْ بِمَا لَمۡ يُحِيطُواْ بِعِلۡمِهِۦ وَلَمَّا يَأۡتِهِمۡ تَأۡوِيلُهُۥۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۖ فَٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ 39

39        In fact, they are denying it without pondering over the meanings of it, and they have not yet received the end result of it. Similarly the people before them denied. Then see what the end of the wrong-doers was.

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يُؤۡمِنُ بِهِۦ وَمِنۡهُم مَّن لَّا يُؤۡمِنُ بِهِۦۚ وَرَبُّكَ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ 40

40        And some of them believe in the Quran and others don’t. Allah is the Best Knower of the evil-doers.

وَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل لِّي عَمَلِي وَلَكُمۡ عَمَلُكُمۡۖ أَنتُم بَرِيٓ‍ُٔونَ مِمَّآ أَعۡمَلُ وَأَنَا۠ بَرِيٓءٞ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ 41

41        And if they deny you, say: “My deeds are for me and your deeds are for you. You are not responsible for what I do and I am not responsible for what you do.”

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَسۡتَمِعُونَ إِلَيۡكَۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُسۡمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ وَلَوۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَعۡقِلُونَ 42

42        And among them are some who (pretend to) listen to you, but can you make the deaf to hear even though they have no sense? (i.e. even a deaf can somewhat understand by hints, but a deaf without any brain is a total hopeless case).

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَنظُرُ إِلَيۡكَۚ أَفَأَنتَ تَهۡدِي ٱلۡعُمۡيَ وَلَوۡ كَانُواْ لَا يُبۡصِرُونَ 43

43        And among them are some who (pretend to) look at you, but can you guide the blind even though they see not? (i.e. blind without any comprehension).

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَظۡلِمُ ٱلنَّاسَ شَيۡ‍ٔٗا وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ أَنفُسَهُمۡ يَظۡلِمُونَ 44

44        Indeed, Allah does not do any wrong to mankind (i.e. punish them without giving them guidance and skills), but people wrong themselves.(i.e. don’t use the God gifted skills).

وَيَوۡمَ يَحۡشُرُهُمۡ كَأَن لَّمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا سَاعَةٗ مِّنَ ٱلنَّهَارِ يَتَعَارَفُونَ بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ قَدۡ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِلِقَآءِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُهۡتَدِينَ 45

45        And (remind them) about the Day when He shall gather them. (It will appear to them) as if they had not stayed (in this world and graves) except for an hour of the day to recognize each other (but will not be able to help each other. This will increase their misery since there are always expectations from the people you recognize). Those people will definitely be in loss who denied the Meeting with Allah and they were not guided.(Also Surah An-Naziat:46)

وَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعۡضَ ٱلَّذِي نَعِدُهُمۡ أَوۡ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيۡنَا مَرۡجِعُهُمۡ ثُمَّ ٱللَّهُ شَهِيدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفۡعَلُونَ 46

46        (Regarding the punishment in this world). And even if We show you the part of this punishment which We have promised them, or We cause you to die, still they have to return to Us. Then Allah is Witness over what they used to do.

وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٖ رَّسُولٞۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ رَسُولُهُمۡ قُضِيَ بَيۡنَهُم بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ 47

47        And for every community there is a messenger. After the coming of their messenger (i.e. after he has conveyed the message), their matter is judged with justice and they are not wronged. (Also Surah Al-Isra:15)

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلۡوَعۡدُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ 48

48        And they say: “When will this promise (of punishment or the Day of Resurrection) be fulfilled, if you speak the truth? (Why don’t you make it occur now?) 

قُل لَّآ أَمۡلِكُ لِنَفۡسِي ضَرّٗا وَلَا نَفۡعًا إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُۗ لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌۚ إِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمۡ فَلَا يَسۡتَ‍ٔۡخِرُونَ سَاعَةٗ وَلَا يَسۡتَقۡدِمُونَ 49

49        [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] Say: “I have no power to harm or benefit myself except what Allah may will. (Hence, I have no power to bring about the punishment. As for the timing of this punishment) For every nation there is an appointed time. When this time comes, they can neither delay it, nor can they advance it an hour (or a moment).”

قُلۡ أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ إِنۡ أَتَىٰكُمۡ عَذَابُهُۥ بَيَٰتًا أَوۡ نَهَارٗا مَّاذَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُ مِنۡهُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ 50

50        Say: “Tell me, if Allah’s torment comes to you during the night or during the day, then what is in it (i.e. what is good in the torment) that the criminals are hastening for?” 

أَثُمَّ إِذَا مَا وَقَعَ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦٓۚ ءَآلۡـَٰٔنَ وَقَدۡ كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ 51

51        Is it when it has actually occurred, you will believe in it? Now (you believe)? And before this you used to hasten for it.

ثُمَّ قِيلَ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخُلۡدِ هَلۡ تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَكۡسِبُونَ 52

52        Then it will be said to them who wronged themselves: “Taste the everlasting punishment! Are you not repaid according to what you used to do?”

۞وَيَسۡتَنۢبِ‍ُٔونَكَ أَحَقٌّ هُوَۖ قُلۡ إِي وَرَبِّيٓ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقّٞۖ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِينَ 53

53        [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!]  And they ask you (jokingly): “Is it true (i.e. will this torment really occur?)” Say: “Yes! By my Creator! It is the very truth, and you will not be able to escape it.”

وَلَوۡ أَنَّ لِكُلِّ نَفۡسٖ ظَلَمَتۡ مَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ لَٱفۡتَدَتۡ بِهِۦۗ وَأَسَرُّواْ ٱلنَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَأَوُاْ ٱلۡعَذَابَۖ وَقُضِيَ بَيۡنَهُم بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ 54

54        And if every person who disbelieved had all that is in the earth to free him from the torment (it will not be accepted). They will try to hide the shame on their faces when they see the torment, and they will be judged with justice, and no wrong will be done to them.

أَلَآ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ 55

55        Bear in mind, all that is in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah. Bear in mind, Allah’s promise is true, but most of them do not know.

هُوَ يُحۡيِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَإِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ 56

56        It is He Who gives life, and causes death. And all of you will be brought back to Him.
