وَلَوۡ جَآءَتۡهُمۡ كُلُّ ءَايَةٍ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُاْ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَ 97

97        Even if they see every sign (of Allah), until they see the painful torment. (Also Surah Al-Mumin/Ghafir:85)

فَلَوۡلَا كَانَتۡ قَرۡيَةٌ ءَامَنَتۡ فَنَفَعَهَآ إِيمَٰنُهَآ إِلَّا قَوۡمَ يُونُسَ لَمَّآ ءَامَنُواْ كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخِزۡيِ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَمَتَّعۡنَٰهُمۡ إِلَىٰ حِينٖ 98

98        Hence, no town (community) believed (after seeing the torment) and its Faith (at that moment) proved beneficial for them except the people of Yunus (peace be upon him). When they believed, We removed the disgraceful punishment from them in the worldly life and let them enjoy (the worldly life) for a while.

وَلَوۡ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ لَأٓمَنَ مَن فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كُلُّهُمۡ جَمِيعًاۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُكۡرِهُ ٱلنَّاسَ حَتَّىٰ يَكُونُواْ مُؤۡمِنِينَ 99

99        [It is not only for the people of Yunus (peace be upon him)] And if your Creator willed, all the people on the earth would have believed. (Due to some wisdom Allah did not will so. Hence, all the people did not believe). So, will you [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] compel mankind, until they become believers?

وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفۡسٍ أَن تُؤۡمِنَ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَيَجۡعَلُ ٱلرِّجۡسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعۡقِلُونَ 100

100        And no person can believe except with Allah’s Permission. And Allah throws filth (of disbelief) on those who have no sense (to appreciate guidance of Allah and they always remain disbelievers).

قُلِ ٱنظُرُواْ مَاذَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَا تُغۡنِي ٱلۡأٓيَٰتُ وَٱلنُّذُرُ عَن قَوۡمٖ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُونَ 101

101        [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] Say: “Ponder over things which are in the heavens and the earth.” The signs of Allah and threats do no good to those who don’t believe (due to their stubbornness).

فَهَلۡ يَنتَظِرُونَ إِلَّا مِثۡلَ أَيَّامِ ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوۡاْ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ قُلۡ فَٱنتَظِرُوٓاْ إِنِّي مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُنتَظِرِينَ 102

102        So are they waiting for the days (or events of destruction) of the people who passed away before them? Say: “Hence, you wait, I am waiting too along with you.”

ثُمَّ نُنَجِّي رُسُلَنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْۚ كَذَٰلِكَ حَقًّا عَلَيۡنَا نُنجِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ 103

103        (We did punish communities mentioned above). Then We did save Our messengers and the believers too. It is incumbent upon Us to save the believers.

قُلۡ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِن كُنتُمۡ فِي شَكّٖ مِّن دِينِي فَلَآ أَعۡبُدُ ٱلَّذِينَ تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَٰكِنۡ أَعۡبُدُ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِي يَتَوَفَّىٰكُمۡۖ وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ 104

104        [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] Say: “O you Mankind! If you are in doubt about my religion, then (note that) I will never worship those whom you worship besides Allah. But I worship Allah who causes you to die, and I am commanded to be one of the believers.

وَأَنۡ أَقِمۡ وَجۡهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفٗا وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ 105

105        (And I am also commanded that): “Direct your face totally towards the straight (upright) religion (i.e. Islam). And never be one of the idolaters.

وَلَا تَدۡعُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكَ وَلَا يَضُرُّكَۖ فَإِن فَعَلۡتَ فَإِنَّكَ إِذٗا مِّنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ 106

106        “And don’t worship anybody besides Allah since those will neither benefit you nor harm you. So if you did this, then you shall certainly be one of the wrong-doers.”

وَإِن يَمۡسَسۡكَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرّٖ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥٓ إِلَّا هُوَۖ وَإِن يُرِدۡكَ بِخَيۡرٖ فَلَا رَآدَّ لِفَضۡلِهِۦۚ يُصِيبُ بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 107

107        And if Allah inflicts some adversity upon you, nobody can remove it except Him. And if He intends to do you some good, nobody can stop His Bounty. He bestows (His Bounty) upon whoever of His slaves He wills, and He is the Very-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

قُلۡ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدۡ جَآءَكُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكُمۡۖ فَمَنِ ٱهۡتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهۡتَدِي لِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيۡهَاۖ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ عَلَيۡكُم بِوَكِيلٖ 108

108        [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] Say: “O you mankind! Now truth [i.e. the Quran and Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] has come to you from your Creator. So whosoever follows guidance, he does so for his own good, and whosoever goes astray, he does so for his own loss. And I am not sent over you as a supervisor (to make you accept Islam forcefully).”

وَٱتَّبِعۡ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَيۡكَ وَٱصۡبِرۡ حَتَّىٰ يَحۡكُمَ ٱللَّهُۚ وَهُوَ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡحَٰكِمِينَ 109

109        [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] And follow what is revealed to you, and be patient till Allah gives judgement. And He is the Best of the judges.  

الٓرۚ كِتَٰبٌ أُحۡكِمَتۡ ءَايَٰتُهُۥ ثُمَّ فُصِّلَتۡ مِن لَّدُنۡ حَكِيمٍ خَبِيرٍ 1

1        Alif-Lam-Ra. (Only Allah Alone knows their meanings). (This is) a Book (the Quran) and its Verses are perfected (in every way) and they are explained in detail by the All-Wise, Well-Acquainted with all things.

أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوٓاْ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَۚ إِنَّنِي لَكُم مِّنۡهُ نَذِيرٞ وَبَشِيرٞ 2

2        (Main purpose of this Book is) don’t worship anybody besides Allah. Indeed, I [Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] am a warner and a conveyor of glad tidings to you from Allah.

وَأَنِ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ ثُمَّ تُوبُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهِ يُمَتِّعۡكُم مَّتَٰعًا حَسَنًا إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمّٗى وَيُؤۡتِ كُلَّ ذِي فَضۡلٖ فَضۡلَهُۥۖ وَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَإِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٖ كَبِيرٍ 3

3 And that you should seek forgive-ness (of your sins) from your Creator, and turn to Him in repen-tance. (Consequently) He shall pro-vide you excellent com-forts of life for a fixed term, and give you ad-ditional reward for every good deed of yours. But if you turn away, then I fear for you the torment of a Great Day (i.e. the Day of Judgement).

إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٌ 4

4 (Finally) you have to return to Allah, and Allah is Able to do all things.

أَلَآ إِنَّهُمۡ يَثۡنُونَ صُدُورَهُمۡ لِيَسۡتَخۡفُواْ مِنۡهُۚ أَلَا حِينَ يَسۡتَغۡشُونَ ثِيَابَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعۡلِنُونَۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمُۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ 5

5        Bear in mind that they fold their breasts to hide (their talk) from Him. Bear in mind that He knows what they conceal and what they reveal even when they are covered in garments. Indeed, Allah knows what is hidden in their breasts. (Why should He not know what they utter by their tongues?)

۞وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٖ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ رِزۡقُهَا وَيَعۡلَمُ مُسۡتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسۡتَوۡدَعَهَاۚ كُلّٞ فِي كِتَٰبٖ مُّبِينٖ 6

6        And no (living) creature is there on the earth but Allah has provision for it. And Allah knows its residence (i.e. mother’s uterus) and also the place of its stay (i.e. grave) - Imam Shawkani. All is recorded in a Clear Book. 

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ وَكَانَ عَرۡشُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلۡمَآءِ لِيَبۡلُوَكُمۡ أَيُّكُمۡ أَحۡسَنُ عَمَلٗاۗ وَلَئِن قُلۡتَ إِنَّكُم مَّبۡعُوثُونَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ لَيَقُولَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٞ 7

7        And Allah created the heavens and the earth in six days, and His Throne was on the water (Hence, water and His Throne had already been created). Allah created you to test you, which of you have the best deeds. But if you say to the people: “You shall, indeed, be resurrected after death, the disbelievers would surely say: ‘This is nothing except an obvious magic.’”
