ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمۡوَٰلَهُم بِٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ سِرّٗا وَعَلَانِيَةٗ فَلَهُمۡ أَجۡرُهُمۡ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ وَلَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يَحۡزَنُونَ 274

274        Those who spend their wealth (in Allah’s Cause) by the night and the day, secretly and openly [e.g. Abu Bakr (ؓ)], Allah will reward them (on the Day of Judgement) and they will have no fear, nor shall they grieve.

ٱلَّذِينَ يَأۡكُلُونَ ٱلرِّبَوٰاْ لَا يَقُومُونَ إِلَّا كَمَا يَقُومُ ٱلَّذِي يَتَخَبَّطُهُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ مِنَ ٱلۡمَسِّۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡبَيۡعُ مِثۡلُ ٱلرِّبَوٰاْۗ وَأَحَلَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡبَيۡعَ وَحَرَّمَ ٱلرِّبَوٰاْۚ فَمَن جَآءَهُۥ مَوۡعِظَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ فَٱنتَهَىٰ فَلَهُۥ مَا سَلَفَ وَأَمۡرُهُۥٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ وَمَنۡ عَادَ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ 275

275        Those who engage in usury will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection and in their graves) except like a person whom Satan has driven to madness. That is because they say: “Trading is similar to usury.” Although Allah has made trading permissible and has forbidden usury. Whoever stops (dealing with) usury after this advice of Allah, he will not be punished for the previous involvement, and his case is for Allah (to judge whether he repented sincerely or not). And whoever returns to usury, they will be residents of the Hell-Fire, they will reside there forever.

يَمۡحَقُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرِّبَوٰاْ وَيُرۡبِي ٱلصَّدَقَٰتِۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ أَثِيمٍ 276

276        Allah decreases and destroys usury and increases (the reward of) charity (although apparently it is reverse, but in final analysis, it is as in this Verse). And Allah does not like the ungrateful sinners.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَأَقَامُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَوُاْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرُهُمۡ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ وَلَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يَحۡزَنُونَ 277

277        Indeed, those who believe, and do righteous deeds, and perform Salat and give Zakaat (i.e. the poor-due), they will have their reward with Allah. They shall have no fear (on the Day of Judgement) nor will they grieve.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَذَرُواْ مَا بَقِيَ مِنَ ٱلرِّبَوٰٓاْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ 278

278        O you who believe! Be con-scious of Allah and give up what remains from usury, if you are (truly) believers. 

فَإِن لَّمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ فَأۡذَنُواْ بِحَرۡبٖ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦۖ وَإِن تُبۡتُمۡ فَلَكُمۡ رُءُوسُ أَمۡوَٰلِكُمۡ لَا تَظۡلِمُونَ وَلَا تُظۡلَمُونَ 279

279        And if you don’t do it, get ready to have a war with Allah and His messenger. However, if you repent, then your capital amount is still yours. (After this law) don’t do injustice to others (by receiving from others more than your capital amount) nor you would be done injustice (that your capital amount remain unrecovered).

وَإِن كَانَ ذُو عُسۡرَةٖ فَنَظِرَةٌ إِلَىٰ مَيۡسَرَةٖۚ وَأَن تَصَدَّقُواْ خَيۡرٞ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ 280

280        If the debtor is in difficulty to pay, then grant him time till he is at ease to pay, and if you forego it as charity, it is much better for you if you know (its reward).

وَٱتَّقُواْ يَوۡمٗا تُرۡجَعُونَ فِيهِ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ ثُمَّ تُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ مَّا كَسَبَتۡ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ 281

281        And be conscious of that Day when you shall be brought back to Allah and then everybody will be fully rewarded according to his deeds and they shall not be dealt unjustly.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا تَدَايَنتُم بِدَيۡنٍ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمّٗى فَٱكۡتُبُوهُۚ وَلۡيَكۡتُب بَّيۡنَكُمۡ كَاتِبُۢ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِۚ وَلَا يَأۡبَ كَاتِبٌ أَن يَكۡتُبَ كَمَا عَلَّمَهُ ٱللَّهُۚ فَلۡيَكۡتُبۡ وَلۡيُمۡلِلِ ٱلَّذِي عَلَيۡهِ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَلۡيَتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّهُۥ وَلَا يَبۡخَسۡ مِنۡهُ شَيۡ‍ٔٗاۚ فَإِن كَانَ ٱلَّذِي عَلَيۡهِ ٱلۡحَقُّ سَفِيهًا أَوۡ ضَعِيفًا أَوۡ لَا يَسۡتَطِيعُ أَن يُمِلَّ هُوَ فَلۡيُمۡلِلۡ وَلِيُّهُۥ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِۚ وَٱسۡتَشۡهِدُواْ شَهِيدَيۡنِ مِن رِّجَالِكُمۡۖ فَإِن لَّمۡ يَكُونَا رَجُلَيۡنِ فَرَجُلٞ وَٱمۡرَأَتَانِ مِمَّن تَرۡضَوۡنَ مِنَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءِ أَن تَضِلَّ إِحۡدَىٰهُمَا فَتُذَكِّرَ إِحۡدَىٰهُمَا ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰۚ وَلَا يَأۡبَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءُ إِذَا مَا دُعُواْۚ وَلَا تَسۡ‍َٔمُوٓاْ أَن تَكۡتُبُوهُ صَغِيرًا أَوۡ كَبِيرًا إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلِهِۦۚ ذَٰلِكُمۡ أَقۡسَطُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَأَقۡوَمُ لِلشَّهَٰدَةِ وَأَدۡنَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَرۡتَابُوٓاْ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَٰرَةً حَاضِرَةٗ تُدِيرُونَهَا بَيۡنَكُمۡ فَلَيۡسَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ جُنَاحٌ أَلَّا تَكۡتُبُوهَاۗ وَأَشۡهِدُوٓاْ إِذَا تَبَايَعۡتُمۡۚ وَلَا يُضَآرَّ كَاتِبٞ وَلَا شَهِيدٞۚ وَإِن تَفۡعَلُواْ فَإِنَّهُۥ فُسُوقُۢ بِكُمۡۗ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَۖ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ ٱللَّهُۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمٞ 282

282        O you who believe! When you borrow money from one another for a fixed term, then make a written contract. And a scribe (the writer of the contract) should write a contract between you honestly. The writer should not refuse since Allah has imparted these skills to him, hence he should willingly write it. The debtor (who owes money) should give the dictation of the contract. The debtor should fear Allah, his Creator, and should not decrease anything which he owes. But if the debtor is mentally deficient, or weak, or is unable to dictate for himself, then let his guardian dictate the contract honestly. And make two witnesses from your men. And if two men are not available, then one man and two women of your choice should witness, so that if one woman forgets, the other woman can remind her. And the witnesses should not refuse when they are called (for evidence). (Since it is like helping your brother). Don’t be lazy in writing your contract, big or small, for its fixed term. That is more just with Allah, stronger as an evidence, and good safeguard to avoid any doubts among you. However, if there is a transaction in which there is hand to hand exchange on the spot, then there is no sin for you if you don’t write it down. And do make witnesses whenever you do trading (may be somebody raises some objection later on).   And don’t harm the writer (of contract) or the witness. If you harm a writer or a witness, it is a sin on your part. So be afraid of Allah. Allah (is Merciful who) is teaching you (beneficial regulations) and Allah is All-Knowing of each and everything. 

۞وَإِن كُنتُمۡ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٖ وَلَمۡ تَجِدُواْ كَاتِبٗا فَرِهَٰنٞ مَّقۡبُوضَةٞۖ فَإِنۡ أَمِنَ بَعۡضُكُم بَعۡضٗا فَلۡيُؤَدِّ ٱلَّذِي ٱؤۡتُمِنَ أَمَٰنَتَهُۥ وَلۡيَتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّهُۥۗ وَلَا تَكۡتُمُواْ ٱلشَّهَٰدَةَۚ وَمَن يَكۡتُمۡهَا فَإِنَّهُۥٓ ءَاثِمٞ قَلۡبُهُۥۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ عَلِيمٞ 283

283        And if you are on a journey and cannot find a writer, then keep a pledge (of a precious item) in the custody of your lender. (It is called mortgaging). If they have mutual trust (and don’t feel need for any mortgaging), then the borrower should fully repay the loan on time and fear Allah, his Creator. And don’t conceal the evidence. Whoever conceals the evidence, surely his heart is sinful. And Allah is All-Knower of what you do. 

لِّلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَإِن تُبۡدُواْ مَا فِيٓ أَنفُسِكُمۡ أَوۡ تُخۡفُوهُ يُحَاسِبۡكُم بِهِ ٱللَّهُۖ فَيَغۡفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٌ 284

284        (We were advised not to hide the evidence in the previous Verse. This Verse is to supplement this topic). Whatever is in the heavens and in the earth, all belongs to Allah. And whether you disclose whatever is in your mind or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it. So He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allah is Able to do all things.

ءَامَنَ ٱلرَّسُولُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡهِ مِن رَّبِّهِۦ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَۚ كُلٌّ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيۡنَ أَحَدٖ مِّن رُّسُلِهِۦۚ وَقَالُواْ سَمِعۡنَا وَأَطَعۡنَاۖ غُفۡرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيۡكَ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ 285

285        The messenger [Muhammad (May Allah's peace and blessings be upon him )] believes in what was revealed to him from his Creator and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allah, His Angels, His Books and His messengers. (They say): “We don’t make any distinction among His messengers”, and they say: “We hear, and we obey. O our Creator! Forgive us and we have to return to You.”

لَا يُكَلِّفُ ٱللَّهُ نَفۡسًا إِلَّا وُسۡعَهَاۚ لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتۡ وَعَلَيۡهَا مَا ٱكۡتَسَبَتۡۗ رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذۡنَآ إِن نَّسِينَآ أَوۡ أَخۡطَأۡنَاۚ رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحۡمِلۡ عَلَيۡنَآ إِصۡرٗا كَمَا حَمَلۡتَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِنَاۚ رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلۡنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِۦۖ وَٱعۡفُ عَنَّا وَٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَا وَٱرۡحَمۡنَآۚ أَنتَ مَوۡلَىٰنَا فَٱنصُرۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ 286

286        Allah does not burden a person beyond his capacity. He will be rewarded for the good he does and will be punished for the evil he does. “Our Creator! Please, don’t punish us if we forget or commit an error. Our Creator! Please don’t lay burden on us like the burden You laid on those before us (Jews and Christians). Our Creator! Please don’t put on us a burden greater than we can bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness and have mercy on us. You are our Protector and give us victory over the disbelieving people.”

الٓمٓ 1

1 Alif. Lam. Mim. (Allah Alone knows their meanings)

ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡحَيُّ ٱلۡقَيُّومُ 2

2        None has the right to be worshipped except Allah – Ever living and Ever Protector (of everything).

نَزَّلَ عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ مُصَدِّقٗا لِّمَا بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡهِ وَأَنزَلَ ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةَ وَٱلۡإِنجِيلَ 3

3        He sent down the Book to you [Prophet Muhammad (May Allah's peace and blessings be upon him )] with truth which confirms (the Books) sent before this. And He sent down Taurat and Injeel (before this).

مِن قَبۡلُ هُدٗى لِّلنَّاسِ وَأَنزَلَ ٱلۡفُرۡقَانَۗ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِ‍َٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ شَدِيدٞۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٞ ذُو ٱنتِقَامٍ 4

4        Before this, for the guidance of the people. And He also sent down that which makes absolute distinction between the truth and the falsehood (i.e. the Quran). Indeed, those who disbelieve in the revelations of Allah, there is a severe torment for them. Allah is All-Mighty, All-Able to take revenge.

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَخۡفَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ شَيۡءٞ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ 5

5        Indeed, there is nothing in the earth and in the heavens which is hidden from Allah.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُصَوِّرُكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡحَامِ كَيۡفَ يَشَآءُۚ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ 6

6        It is He who shapes you in the wombs of your mothers as He Wills. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah – the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنزَلَ عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ مِنۡهُ ءَايَٰتٞ مُّحۡكَمَٰتٌ هُنَّ أُمُّ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَأُخَرُ مُتَشَٰبِهَٰتٞۖ فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمۡ زَيۡغٞ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ مَا تَشَٰبَهَ مِنۡهُ ٱبۡتِغَآءَ ٱلۡفِتۡنَةِ وَٱبۡتِغَآءَ تَأۡوِيلِهِۦۖ وَمَا يَعۡلَمُ تَأۡوِيلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُۗ وَٱلرَّٰسِخُونَ فِي ٱلۡعِلۡمِ يَقُولُونَ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ كُلّٞ مِّنۡ عِندِ رَبِّنَاۗ وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إِلَّآ أُوْلُواْ ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ 7

7        He has sent down to you [Muhammad (May Allah's peace and blessings be upon him )] the Book in which there are absolutely clear Verses and these are the foundation (or substance) of the Book. There are also Verses whose meanings are not entirely clear (i.e. allegorical). So the people who have deviation (from the truth) in their minds fol-low the Verses whose meanings are not entirely clear seeking trial (dis-belief) and their hidden meanings. And nobody knows the explana-tions of these Verses except Allah. And the people who are sound in knowledge say: “We believe in it. All (Verses) are from our Creator.” And only the people of understand-ing learn a lesson from it.
