رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهۡلِي مِمَّا يَعۡمَلُونَ 169

169        “O my Creator! Save me and my family from what they do (and from the punishment going to be inflicted on these people).”

فَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥٓ أَجۡمَعِينَ 170

170        So We saved him and all his family,

إِلَّا عَجُوزٗا فِي ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ 171

171        Except an old woman (his wife), she was among those who remained behind.

ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ 172

172        Then We destroyed the rest of them.

وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم مَّطَرٗاۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ 173

173        And We rained on them a (special) kind of rain (of stones). So it was an evil rain for those who had been warned!

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ 174

174        Indeed, in this is (an intel-lectual) proof (of the Oneness of Allah), yet most of them are not believers.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 175

175        And, indeed, your Creator is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.

كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَٰبُ لۡ‍َٔيۡكَةِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ 176

176        The residents of Al-Aikah (near Madyan) denied the messengers.

إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ شُعَيۡبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ 177

177        When Shuaib ( peace be upon him )  said to them: “Why don’t you fear  (Allah)?”

إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ 178

178        “I am a trustworthy messenger to you.

فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ 179

179        “So fear Allah and obey me.

وَمَآ أَسۡ‍َٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ 180

180        “And I don’t ask you for any reward, my reward is only from the Creator of the universe.

۞أَوۡفُواْ ٱلۡكَيۡلَ وَلَا تَكُونُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡسِرِينَ 181

181        “Give full measure, and don’t be one of those who give less (in weight and measure).

وَزِنُواْ بِٱلۡقِسۡطَاسِ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمِ 182

182        “And weigh with the true and straight balance.

وَلَا تَبۡخَسُواْ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشۡيَآءَهُمۡ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِينَ 183

183        “Don’t reduce the credit of the people and don’t go around spreading mischief in the land.

وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُمۡ وَٱلۡجِبِلَّةَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ 184

184        “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier generations.”

قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِينَ 185

185        They said: “Indeed, you are one of those bewitched.

وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ 186

186        “And you are only a human being like us and we consider you a liar.

فَأَسۡقِطۡ عَلَيۡنَا كِسَفٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ 187

187        “So make some pieces of the heaven to fall on us, if you are of the truthful. 

قَالَ رَبِّيٓ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ 188

188        Shuaib ( peace be upon him )  said: “(I don’t bring the torment). My Creator is fully aware of what you do. (He will bring the torment as and when necessary).”
