وَإِذَا غَشِيَهُم مَّوۡجٞ كَٱلظُّلَلِ دَعَوُاْ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ فَلَمَّا نَجَّىٰهُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡبَرِّ فَمِنۡهُم مُّقۡتَصِدٞۚ وَمَا يَجۡحَدُ بِ‍َٔايَٰتِنَآ إِلَّا كُلُّ خَتَّارٖ كَفُورٖ 32

32 And when waves cover them like canopies, they pray to Allah sincerely with full faith in Him, (ignoring totally their false gods). But when He brings them safely to the land, some of them become neutral (i.e. neither believers nor disbe-lievers – Tafseer Ibn-Kathir). None denies Our signs except every treacherous and ungrateful person.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ وَٱخۡشَوۡاْ يَوۡمٗا لَّا يَجۡزِي وَالِدٌ عَن وَلَدِهِۦ وَلَا مَوۡلُودٌ هُوَ جَازٍ عَن وَالِدِهِۦ شَيۡ‍ًٔاۚ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞۖ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُم بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡغَرُورُ 33

33 O mankind! Fear your Creator and be conscious of the Day when no father can benefit his son, nor any son benefit his father. Indeed, the Promise of Allah is true. Hence, let not the worldly life deceive you, nor let the deceiver (i.e. Satan) deceive you regarding Allah.

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عِندَهُۥ عِلۡمُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ وَيُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡغَيۡثَ وَيَعۡلَمُ مَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡحَامِۖ وَمَا تَدۡرِي نَفۡسٞ مَّاذَا تَكۡسِبُ غَدٗاۖ وَمَا تَدۡرِي نَفۡسُۢ بِأَيِّ أَرۡضٖ تَمُوتُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرُۢ 34

34 Indeed, only Allah has the knowledge (of the time of the occurrence) of the Day of Judgement. Allah sends down the rain (with His knowledge and control), and He Alone knows what is in the womb (whether he/she will be good or bad in person, features, colour, etc). And no person knows what deeds he will perform tomorrow, and no person knows in what land he will die. Indeed, Allah is All-Knower, Well-Acquainted (with all things).

الٓمٓ 1

1 Alif-Lam-Mim (Allah, Alone, knows their meanings).

تَنزِيلُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ لَا رَيۡبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ 2

2 The revelation of this Book, in which there is no doubt, is from the Creator of the universe. 

أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۚ بَلۡ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوۡمٗا مَّآ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٖ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَهۡتَدُونَ 3

3 Or do they say that you [Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] have fabricated it? (Not at all). In fact, it is the truth from your Creator, so that you may warn the people to whom no warner had come before you [Mu-hammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!], in order that they may be guided.

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡعَرۡشِۖ مَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَلِيّٖ وَلَا شَفِيعٍۚ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ 4

4 Allah has created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them (e.g. plasma) in six Days. Then He rose over the Throne (in the manner that suits His Majesty). You have neither a protector nor an intercessor besides Him. Don’t you learn a lesson from it? (Also see 15:89, 19:65, 20:6, 21:16, 25:59, 29:8 and 30:8).

يُدَبِّرُ ٱلۡأَمۡرَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ثُمَّ يَعۡرُجُ إِلَيۡهِ فِي يَوۡمٖ كَانَ مِقۡدَارُهُۥٓ أَلۡفَ سَنَةٖ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ 5

5 He plans and manages all the affairs from the heaven to the earth, then (each affair) goes back to Allah, in one Day, which, according to your counting, is equivalent to one thousand years.

ذَٰلِكَ عَٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 6

6 That is He, the All-Knower of both the unseen and the seen, the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.

ٱلَّذِيٓ أَحۡسَنَ كُلَّ شَيۡءٍ خَلَقَهُۥۖ وَبَدَأَ خَلۡقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنِ مِن طِينٖ 7

7 Everything He has created is excellent (i.e. it is most suitable for the purpose it is created), and He started the creation of mankind [i.e. Adam ( peace be upon him )  ] from clay.

ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسۡلَهُۥ مِن سُلَٰلَةٖ مِّن مَّآءٖ مَّهِينٖ 8

8 Then He created his children from semen of worthless water.

ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰهُ وَنَفَخَ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِهِۦۖ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡ‍ِٔدَةَۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَشۡكُرُونَ 9

9 Then He made his various organs in due proportion, and breathed into him the soul, and He made for you your ears, eyes and hearts, yet you give Him very little thanks! (Here Allah also informed that hearing is developed first and then the eyesight in an embryo. We discovered it recently). (Also see 23:78 and 68:23).

وَقَالُوٓاْ أَءِذَا ضَلَلۡنَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَءِنَّا لَفِي خَلۡقٖ جَدِيدِۢۚ بَلۡ هُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّهِمۡ كَٰفِرُونَ 10

10 And the disbelievers say: “When we are lost in the earth (after our death), shall we really be created again?” In fact, they deny the Meeting with their Creator. 

۞قُلۡ يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم مَّلَكُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ ٱلَّذِي وُكِّلَ بِكُمۡ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمۡ تُرۡجَعُونَ 11

11 Say: “The angel of death, who is appointed over you, will take away your souls (his only duty is to seize the souls). Then you shall be returned to your Creator.”

وَلَوۡ تَرَىٰٓ إِذِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ نَاكِسُواْ رُءُوسِهِمۡ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ رَبَّنَآ أَبۡصَرۡنَا وَسَمِعۡنَا فَٱرۡجِعۡنَا نَعۡمَلۡ صَٰلِحًا إِنَّا مُوقِنُونَ 12

12 And if you could see when the criminals shall lower their heads (in shame) before their Creator (saying): “Our Creator! We have clearly seen and heard (that what the messengers used to say, was absolutely correct), (please) send us back (to the world), we will do good deeds. Indeed, we now believe firmly.”

وَلَوۡ شِئۡنَا لَأٓتَيۡنَا كُلَّ نَفۡسٍ هُدَىٰهَا وَلَٰكِنۡ حَقَّ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ مِنِّي لَأَمۡلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجۡمَعِينَ 13

13 And if We had willed, We would have provided every person with guidance. But Our Word (i.e. Promise) is fulfilled that We will fill Hell with (disbelieving) jinn and mankind altogether.

فَذُوقُواْ بِمَا نَسِيتُمۡ لِقَآءَ يَوۡمِكُمۡ هَٰذَآ إِنَّا نَسِينَٰكُمۡۖ وَذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخُلۡدِ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ 14

14 (It will be said to them) so taste (the torment) because of your forgetting the Meeting of this Day of yours. Surely, We have forgotten you too. Hence, taste the permanent punishment for what you used to do.

إِنَّمَا يُؤۡمِنُ بِ‍َٔايَٰتِنَا ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُواْ بِهَا خَرُّواْۤ سُجَّدٗاۤ وَسَبَّحُواْ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَهُمۡ لَا يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ۩ 15

15 Indeed, those who believe in Our revelations when they are reminded with them, they fall down prostrate, and glorify the Praise of their Creator, and they are not arrogant (towards belief, as the disbelievers are). (Also see Surah Ghaf-ir:60)

تَتَجَافَىٰ جُنُوبُهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمَضَاجِعِ يَدۡعُونَ رَبَّهُمۡ خَوۡفٗا وَطَمَعٗا وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ يُنفِقُونَ 16

16 Their sides forsake their beds (for Tahajjud and Nawafil) and pray to their Creator with fear and hope (it includes Salat, supplication and remembrance of Allah), and they spend from what We have given them.

فَلَا تَعۡلَمُ نَفۡسٞ مَّآ أُخۡفِيَ لَهُم مِّن قُرَّةِ أَعۡيُنٖ جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ 17

17 Nobody really knows what We have kept hidden for them of  happiness as a reward for what they used to do.
