Order in Al-Mushaf : 15
Ayah number : 59
إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ 59
59 “Except the family of Lut. We are surely going to save them (from the destruction),
Ayah number : 60
إِلَّا ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرۡنَآ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ 60
60 “With the exception of his wife. We have decided that she shall be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed).”
Ayah number : 61
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ 61
61 So when the angels came (in human form) to the family of Lut ( peace be upon him ) .
Ayah number : 62
قَالَ إِنَّكُمۡ قَوۡمٞ مُّنكَرُونَ 62
62 [Lut ( peace be upon him ) ] said: “Verily, you are strangers for me.” (And my people bother the strangers).
Ayah number : 63
قَالُواْ بَلۡ جِئۡنَٰكَ بِمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَمۡتَرُونَ 63
63 (Angels) said: “In fact, we have come to you with that (torment) regarding which they doubted.
Ayah number : 64
وَأَتَيۡنَٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ 64
64 “And We have come to you with truth, and we speak the truth.
Ayah number : 65
فَأَسۡرِ بِأَهۡلِكَ بِقِطۡعٖ مِّنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱتَّبِعۡ أَدۡبَٰرَهُمۡ وَلَا يَلۡتَفِتۡ مِنكُمۡ أَحَدٞ وَٱمۡضُواْ حَيۡثُ تُؤۡمَرُونَ 65
65 “Hence, you travel (away from this place) with your family during the night, and you stay in the rear of them, and none of you should even look back (i.e. leave in a hurry), and go where you are ordered to go (i.e. Syria).”
Ayah number : 66
وَقَضَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡهِ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡأَمۡرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقۡطُوعٞ مُّصۡبِحِينَ 66
66 And We informed Lut ( peace be upon him ) about Our decision (through angels), that the root of those (criminals) will be cut off in the early morning.
Ayah number : 67
وَجَآءَ أَهۡلُ ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ يَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ 67
67 (Angels came to Lut ( peace be upon him ) in the form of young men) and the residents of the town came joyfully (at the news of young men’s arrival).
Ayah number : 68
قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيۡفِي فَلَا تَفۡضَحُونِ 68
68 [Lut ( peace be upon him ) ] said: “Verily, these are my guests. Don’t put me to shame.
Ayah number : 69
وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخۡزُونِ 69
69 “And fear Allah, and don’t disgrace me.”
Ayah number : 70
قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمۡ نَنۡهَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ 70
70 (The residents of the town) said: “Did we not forbid you from protecting any people (from us)?”
Ayah number : 71
قَالَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِيٓ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَٰعِلِينَ 71
71 [Lut ( peace be upon him ) ] said: “Here are my daughters (to marry lawfully, since a Prophet is like a spiritual father of the community), if you must act so.”
Ayah number : 72
لَعَمۡرُكَ إِنَّهُمۡ لَفِي سَكۡرَتِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ 72
72 By your life [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!], they were carried away intoxicated and they were acting blindly. [Allah has not sworn by the life of any other Porphet. It is an honour for Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)].
Ayah number : 73
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّيۡحَةُ مُشۡرِقِينَ 73
73 Hence, an awful cry seized them at the time of sunrise.
Ayah number : 74
فَجَعَلۡنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةٗ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ 74
74 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay.
Ayah number : 75
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّلۡمُتَوَسِّمِينَ 75
75 Indeed, in this are signs for those who learn a lesson from it.
Ayah number : 76
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٖ مُّقِيمٍ 76
76 And, indeed, those towns were situated on the busy road (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead sea is now).
Ayah number : 77
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ 77
77 Indeed, there are signs in it for the believers.
Ayah number : 78
وَإِن كَانَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡأَيۡكَةِ لَظَٰلِمِينَ 78
78 And the residents of the woods (i.e. people of Madyan to whom Prophet Shuaib ( peace be upon him ) was sent) were also wrong-doers.
