۞فَلَمَّا قَضَىٰ مُوسَى ٱلۡأَجَلَ وَسَارَ بِأَهۡلِهِۦٓ ءَانَسَ مِن جَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ نَارٗاۖ قَالَ لِأَهۡلِهِ ٱمۡكُثُوٓاْ إِنِّيٓ ءَانَسۡتُ نَارٗا لَّعَلِّيٓ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنۡهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوۡ جَذۡوَةٖ مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَصۡطَلُونَ 29

29 So when Musa ( peace be upon him )  had completed the term, and was travelling with his family, he saw a fire (which was actually a light) in the direc-tion of (mountain) Tur. He said to his family: “Wait here, I have seen a fire. I may bring some information from there or a burning fire-brand for you so that you may warm yourselves.”

فَلَمَّآ أَتَىٰهَا نُودِيَ مِن شَٰطِيِٕ ٱلۡوَادِ ٱلۡأَيۡمَنِ فِي ٱلۡبُقۡعَةِ ٱلۡمُبَٰرَكَةِ مِنَ ٱلشَّجَرَةِ أَن يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنِّيٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ 30

30 So when Musa ( peace be upon him )  reached near it (the fire), he was called from the right side of the valley from a tree, in this blessed ground: “O Musa ( peace be upon him ) ! Indeed, I am Allah, the Creator of the universe!

وَأَنۡ أَلۡقِ عَصَاكَۚ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهَا تَهۡتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَآنّٞ وَلَّىٰ مُدۡبِرٗا وَلَمۡ يُعَقِّبۡۚ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ أَقۡبِلۡ وَلَا تَخَفۡۖ إِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡأٓمِنِينَ 31

31 “And throw your stick!” So when he saw it moving as if it were a snake, he ran backward and did not even care to look back. (It was said): “O Musa ( peace be upon him ) ! Come forward, and don’t fear. Indeed, you are from those who are fully secure. (In fact it is a miracle for you, and here is another miracle).

ٱسۡلُكۡ يَدَكَ فِي جَيۡبِكَ تَخۡرُجۡ بَيۡضَآءَ مِنۡ غَيۡرِ سُوٓءٖ وَٱضۡمُمۡ إِلَيۡكَ جَنَاحَكَ مِنَ ٱلرَّهۡبِۖ فَذَٰنِكَ بُرۡهَٰنَانِ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِۦٓۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ قَوۡمٗا فَٰسِقِينَ 32

32 “Put your hand in your bosom, and then bring it out. It will become brilliant white without any disease or defect. (To dispel your fear) put your hand under your armpit, (it will return to its original form). These are two proofs (of your Prophethood) from your Creator to Firaun and his chiefs. Indeed, they are the people who are disobedient (to Allah).”

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي قَتَلۡتُ مِنۡهُمۡ نَفۡسٗا فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقۡتُلُونِ 33

33 Musa ( peace be upon him )  said: “My Creator! I have killed a man from them, so I fear that they will kill me,

وَأَخِي هَٰرُونُ هُوَ أَفۡصَحُ مِنِّي لِسَانٗا فَأَرۡسِلۡهُ مَعِيَ رِدۡءٗا يُصَدِّقُنِيٓۖ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ 34

34 “And my brother Harun ( peace be upon him )  – he is more eloquent in speech than me, so send him with me as a supporter to confirm me. Indeed, I fear that they will deny me.”

قَالَ سَنَشُدُّ عَضُدَكَ بِأَخِيكَ وَنَجۡعَلُ لَكُمَا سُلۡطَٰنٗا فَلَا يَصِلُونَ إِلَيۡكُمَا بِ‍َٔايَٰتِنَآۚ أَنتُمَا وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكُمَا ٱلۡغَٰلِبُونَ 35

35 Allah said: “We will strengthen your arm with your brother and We will make you dominate, so they will not be able to reach you. You and those who follow you will be victorious due to Our Signs.”

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم مُّوسَىٰ بِ‍َٔايَٰتِنَا بَيِّنَٰتٖ قَالُواْ مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرٞ مُّفۡتَرٗى وَمَا سَمِعۡنَا بِهَٰذَا فِيٓ ءَابَآئِنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ 36

36 So when Musa ( peace be upon him )  came to them with Our miracles, they said: “This is nothing but an invented magic. And we never heard of this among our forefathers.”

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبِّيٓ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَن جَآءَ بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ مِنۡ عِندِهِۦ وَمَن تَكُونُ لَهُۥ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلدَّارِۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفۡلِحُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ 37

37 And Musa ( peace be upon him )  said: “My Creator knows best who came with guidance from Him, and who will have (happy) end in the Hereafter. In-deed, the wrong-doers will not be successful.”

وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡمَلَأُ مَا عَلِمۡتُ لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَٰهٍ غَيۡرِي فَأَوۡقِدۡ لِي يَٰهَٰمَٰنُ عَلَى ٱلطِّينِ فَٱجۡعَل لِّي صَرۡحٗا لَّعَلِّيٓ أَطَّلِعُ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِ مُوسَىٰ وَإِنِّي لَأَظُنُّهُۥ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ 38

38 And Firaun said: “O chiefs! I don’t know that you have a god other than me. O Hamaan! Light some fire to bake (bricks out of) clay and construct a lofty tower so that I may glance at the God of Musa ( peace be upon him ) . And, in-deed, I think Musa ( peace be upon him )  is one of the liars.”

وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرَ هُوَ وَجُنُودُهُۥ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَظَنُّوٓاْ أَنَّهُمۡ إِلَيۡنَا لَا يُرۡجَعُونَ 39

39 And he (i.e. Firaun) and his army were arrogant in the land unjustly, and they thought that they would never return to Us.

فَأَخَذۡنَٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذۡنَٰهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡيَمِّۖ فَٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ 40

40 So We seized him and his army, then We threw them all into the sea, so see what was the (bad) end of the wrong-doers.

وَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ أَئِمَّةٗ يَدۡعُونَ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِۖ وَيَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ لَا يُنصَرُونَ 41

41 And We made them leaders who invite others to the Fire. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will not be helped.

وَأَتۡبَعۡنَٰهُمۡ فِي هَٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا لَعۡنَةٗۖ وَيَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ هُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمَقۡبُوحِينَ 42

42 And We made a curse to follow them in this world, and on the Day of Res-urrection they will be among those who are in an extremely disgusting condition.

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَآ أَهۡلَكۡنَا ٱلۡقُرُونَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ بَصَآئِرَ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدٗى وَرَحۡمَةٗ لَّعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ 43

43 And after We had destroyed the earlier generations, We gave Musa ( peace be upon him ) , the Scripture as an en-lightenment, guidance, and mercy for mankind so that they might learn a lesson from it.

وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ ٱلۡغَرۡبِيِّ إِذۡ قَضَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَى ٱلۡأَمۡرَ وَمَا كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ 44

44 [Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)] And you were not on the western side of the mountain when We gave commandment (i.e. Tau-rat) to Musa ( peace be upon him )  and you were not among the witnesses (of this scene). Also Surah Aal-Imran:44 

وَلَٰكِنَّآ أَنشَأۡنَا قُرُونٗا فَتَطَاوَلَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡعُمُرُۚ وَمَا كُنتَ ثَاوِيٗا فِيٓ أَهۡلِ مَدۡيَنَ تَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا كُنَّا مُرۡسِلِينَ 45

45 And We created many genera-tions [after Musa ( peace be upon him ) ] and long ages passed over them. And [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] you never resided among the people of Madyan reciting Our Verses to them. But We kept sending messengers. (Similarly, We have sent you as a messenger).

وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ إِذۡ نَادَيۡنَا وَلَٰكِن رَّحۡمَةٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوۡمٗا مَّآ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٖ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ 46

46 And you [O Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)!] were not also present at the side of mountain Tur when We called [Musa ( peace be upon him )  to grant him Prophethood]. But it is due to the Mercy of your Creator (Who sent you as a messenger) to warn people to whom no warner had come before you so that they may receive some advice.

وَلَوۡلَآ أَن تُصِيبَهُم مُّصِيبَةُۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ فَيَقُولُواْ رَبَّنَا لَوۡلَآ أَرۡسَلۡتَ إِلَيۡنَا رَسُولٗا فَنَتَّبِعَ ءَايَٰتِكَ وَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ 47

47 (And if We had not sent you as a messenger) whenever an adversity came to them due to that (their evil deeds) which their hands have sent forth,  they would have said: “Our Creator! Why did you not send us a messenger, so we would have followed your revelations and would have been among the believers?”

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِنۡ عِندِنَا قَالُواْ لَوۡلَآ أُوتِيَ مِثۡلَ مَآ أُوتِيَ مُوسَىٰٓۚ أَوَلَمۡ يَكۡفُرُواْ بِمَآ أُوتِيَ مُوسَىٰ مِن قَبۡلُۖ قَالُواْ سِحۡرَانِ تَظَٰهَرَا وَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا بِكُلّٖ كَٰفِرُونَ 48

48 So when the truth [i.e. Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be up-on him) with his message] has come to them from Us, they say: “Why is he not given similar to what was given to Musa ( peace be upon him )  (i.e. Why the Quran did not come altogether as Taurat did?). Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Musa ( peace be upon him )  before this? They say (about the Quran and the Taurat): “Two kinds of magic supporting each other!” They (further) say: “We, indeed, dis-be-lieve all of them.”
